Resumo: -In our country the diagnosis "syndrome Down" turns out to be a verdict which leads to the loss of parents in most of the cases. Nine of ten families reject their children immediately. And only five of these nine live more than one year. Only 10% of children with the Down syndrome live in families. The rest of them are grown up and educated in orphanages.
Some of the families did not want to put up with this situation and decided to establish a public organization of parents and defectologists. The mission of this organization is to defend and realize the rights of the disabled guaranteed by the Constitution of the Russian Federation.
The activities of the Organisation are focused on:
- defense of the disabled children’s rights
- participation in elaborating the laws and other juridical acts related to the rights of the disabled
- providing psychological support to the children and their families
- consulting the families on the questions of the disabled children’s rights
- providing information on the rehabilitation and medical treatment of the disabled children
- creation of library of a specific literature
- organization of the seminars and trainings for the parents and specialists
- organization of leisure time for the disabled children

Perfil: - Aged 20-25
- Motivation and desire to work with the children with the Down syndrome
- Tolerance and patience
- Creativity and new ideas
- Knowledge of English
- Experience of working in the spheres of Psychology and Pedagogics is very welcome

Tarefas: There are 3 different types of work at this project:

I) The volunteer is supposed to participate in the following activities:
- working with children of above 5 y.o. in the families
- assistance in the office work
- assistance in preparation for the seminars
- participation in the seminars’ work
- help in organizing different holidays. Tentative time schedule Monday –Friday from 10.30 till 18.30 (an hour lunch break) Saturday, Sunday: days off A typical day of the volunteer: 10.30–13.00 working with the children in their families’ 13.00–14.00 lunch break 14.00–16.00 assistance to the staff in the organization and preparation of the seminars, participation in the seminars 16.00–18.30 preparation and planning of educational for children, exchanging ideas, sharing experience, preparation of the holidays and parties.

II) Work in the kindergarten in the integrated group as assistant of kindergartener for work with a child/children needed in permanent accompanying by the adult person. The volunteer is supposed to participate in the following activities:
- organization of the leisure time for the children
- creation of different activities and workshops, such as drawing, dancing, drama, handicrafts
- organization of a specific workshop, for example, the volunteer can tell the children about the traditions, customs, holidays and day-to-day life of his/her native country
- assistance to the staff of the organization Tentative time schedule Monday –Friday from 8.30 till 18.00 (13.00 – 15.00 lunch break) Saturday, Sunday: days off

III) Work in the psycho neurological board out for disabled children left without parents as assistant of tutor. The volunteer is supposed to participate in the following activities: assistance in teaching organization of the leisure time for the children help during walks and meal Tentative time schedule Monday –Friday from 8.30 till 18.00 (13.00 – 15.00 lunch break) Saturday, Sunday: days off According to volunteer’s abilities and project objectives, the tasks’ priority will be defined on site in co-operation with the project manager.
