Resumo: The local project of WWF Greece in Dadia is stationed in Dadia, a village with 700 inhabitants that belongs to the municipality of Soufli, in the Evros prefecture. Very few kilometres away from Turkey and Bulgaria, thousands of visitors come every year due to the protected area where it is located: the National Park of Dadia-Lefkimi-Soufli. Nowadays tourism plays an important role in the local economy, together with agriculture, livestock breeding, logging and the public administration. The village has several taverns, kafeneia, cafeterias, mini-markets, a couple of hostels and a visitor's information centre. Societies around the area are rather closed and conservative. This means that people have their own ideas and way of living and expressing their feelings, so volunteers should be very careful and polite when dealing with them.
Tarefas: Black Vulture, Griffon Vulture & Egyptian Vulture monitoring; Entry and processing of collected data into special databases; Education in the identification of bird species and in ecological issues; Operation of duck trapping cages – Swan monitoring; Participation in special events and meetings organized by the Project
