Resumo: According to their interest and potential the young volunteers will be integrated in all daily activities in kindergarten and also during after-school day care.
At the beginning of their volunteer service they will work close together with the staff members to get to know all areas of our house. During the work with the children the volunteers gain an interesting insight into the social life of our children. Our house offers young volunteers the chance to gain or broaden their knowledge on the pedagogic of Maria Montessori in direct contect with children and staff.

Besides our proposals like: sports, dancing, singing, painting by listening music, doing handicrafts, learning English, cooking and baking, learning Origami, programme of back exercises, ergotherapy, brain training, etiquette training for children, the volunteers are required to create another activities or projects for the children day care and also for the after-school day care.
The volunteers will be involved in the preparation and realization of special events, like meetings between parents and pedagogues , season events, parties, open days, etc. They will also take part in all internal meetings and further educations to enrich their knowledge about the work with children.
The volunteers have to work 35 h a week including the language course. We perceive the volunteers as partners who support and enrich our work.

The special spatial and pedagogical framework of our House offer the young volonteer extensive initiatives for all kinds of tasks and activities.
After the first phase (accustoming phase) the volunteers will work with one group of children for most of the time, where they will learn to keep an eye on a limited number of children. The background of the specific observation is:
The main point of Montessori pedagogic is to give children an open space where they can choose, by their own needs, interests and skills, what they want to deal. The basis therefore is preparing the rooms suitable for children with special learning material. This preparation is the resultat of observation of the childlike behavior and includs the educational steps. For example if a child has problems to handle the learning material, they will be exchanged for a easier one. During volunteer service they will get the necessary knowledge (handling with Montessori-material, social competences).

Generally there is enough margin to realize their own ideas, interests within children group. The developement and implementation of activities based on the volunteers interests will be discussed by the volunteer and staff members together.

Perfil: - The volunteer, who we would like to host in our nursery school should love the work with children.
- During the handling with children he or she should have some social competences. They should be sensible, patient, sympathically, open minded and consistent.
- They shoulb be able to communicate with children on a dialogue level.
- Every Volunteer has an individual background on experience and faculties.
- The personal skills and interests for example arts, aesthetic, music, dancing and theatre, sports and mathematics, natural science can be yielded in the daily work.
- We are certain, that the kindergarten as an institution as well as the everyday work greatly benefits by the personal experience and cultural background of the volunteer.
- Also important are reliability, responsibility and teamwork just as the willingness to learn the German language or to extend the existing language skills.
- Furthermore we would wish us volunteers, who can also speak english as a foreign language to create english workshops for the children.

Tarefas: - Help the children by learning, gaining experiences, experimenting, ...
- Development, preparation, plannig of time flexible projects or activities (music, arts, aesthetics, sports)
- Developing sports games and activities, which can be realized outdoor also when the wether conditions are not so good
- Supports sport and music activities in the special rooms
- Accompaning trips in the surounding city park
- Languages animation in English and Mother tongue
- Development and realization of incultural education projects
- Development and realization of playful language offers, "language study travels" in the kindergarten, stories in English and also in Mother tongue

We expect from our staff members and also from our volunteers, that they will support the children in every acceptable tasks.

Condições: The working conditions in our project are related to the needs of our children. We will make sure that our volunteers will never be alone with a whole class. During the own workshops of the volunteers a teacher will support them or the class will be split.

The volunteers will live in a flat-sharing community with other European volunteers. Everyone will have his/her own room but they will share bathroom and kitchen. In the flat exist all necessary furniture and electrical equipments. We will provide bed clothes and towels. The volunteers have to clean the flat by themselves.

We don't plan to host underage volunteers.
To avoid or to work on homesickness we consciously incorporate the peer group of volunteers. We developed special rituals to facilitate the settle-in the project.

We use every contact with the flat-sharing community to ask about our new volunteers to intervene if necessary.
We think that the contact with other young people is as important as the contact with the other volunteers. So we buy our volunteers a special card for trains, which offers a discount on the tickets. This helps them to stay in personal contact with their new friends, even with them from the seminars organised by the National Agency.

All our volunteers take part in a private language training "German as a foreign language" . The volunteers get a individual language training based on their level of knowledge. The language course normally takes place once a week for 90 minutes.
During the first three month of the voluntary service the volunteers will get an insight into the daily routine of the project and they will learn the used methods.

After this first three-month period, the volunteers should be able to offer small workshops regarding to their own interests and skills to the children. Therefore we talk to them about their ideas and wishes but also about their fears and expectations. Furthermore we assist our volunteers with developing a schedule and realising the workshop.
Every young person knows the structure of a kindergarten from their own experience, so that the volunteer´s can´t be so wrong.
We have a tutor in every hosting project (trained by our German National Agency). As the team is quite small there is almost every day the posibility of getting in contact with the tutor.
The staff members working in the administration of the JugendSozialwerk Nordhausen e.V. will use every opportunity to get in personal contact with the volunteers. Furthermore they are responsible for keeping the contact with the sending organisation, controlling the compliance made in the project description and in the Activity Agreement and organising joint activities between the volunteers from the different hosting projects of the JugendSozialwerk Nordhausen e.V.

We carry out regular meetings between the volunteer, the contact person from the administration, the leader of the hosting project and the tutor of the volunteer.
