Candidatura: Para te poderes candidatar tens de fazer o teu login. Se ainda não estás registado faz o teu registo primeiro.

Perfil: You have to be:
- motivated to work with birds and wild animals;
- willing to learn new things;
- speaking English on a good level;
- people who have a background of working with animals have extra chance to be chosen.

Tarefas: Rehabilitation of wild animals, such as seabirds, orphaned birds, mammals and other wild animals. You will have several courses in oiled birds and orphaned birds. You will also assist the staff with medication.

Condições: First, we select the best candidates by mail. Than we try to call them, to see how they are, how they speak and how their English is. After that, we select one of them.

Formação: A wildlife hospital is an unusual place with special needs and atmosphere run by mostly volunteers. We want to give not only local but also international volunteers with interests in wildlife rescue the possibility to get unique experiences. An international volunteer can have a different point of view in these matters, which can be refreshing for the local volunteers. Many of our staff and volunteers had in the past good contacts with international organistations and people abroad. This was one of the extra motivations to start with the project. Thus, wildlife hospital will be this project's working location in order to stimulate the resource to a working environment that not only contributes from the volunteer's own interests and knowledge but also allows his/her personal growth and realization as an active participant.
During winter the EVS-volunteers will learn the whole protocol of oiled bird rehabilitation. If an oil spill is happening in their own country, they can take their knowledge with them and volunteer during the spill. It's important during a spill that not every volunteer starts from zero. And this happened already before. During an oil spill in Norway Anna Hultgren helped organising the spill.
Several objectives of the Youth in Action Program are met within this project. In one hand, the project contributes to improve an information tool that mainly reaches to youngsters. Not only will the volunteer greatly benefit from this experience, as well he will work towards public information, and environmental awareness. In the other hand, the project promotes young people's active citizenship, allowing a feeling of self-realization and personal empowerment.
One of the objectives of this project is to promote creativity and innovation, which will be fundamental to the volunteer's achievement of success. These will be essential to overcome difficulties, cultural challenges, and to create information tools and activities for visitors. We also aim to give our contribution to the European Year of Innovation and Creativity by encouraging our volunteer to share her knowledge with others, either in a informal way or in workshops.
Since 1999 we host EVS-volunteers. Untill the end of 2009 we have hosted at about 40 volunteers. The 'unprejudiced' view of the EVS-volunteers upon things and their proper approach is an enriching value and motivation for our local volunteers. The EVS-volunteers are building up knowledge about helping wildlife and about the fauna. They are learning every day, and because of being here so much (4 days/week) we can rely on them for certain tasks. Throught the year we prefer to have 3 long-term EVS volunteers at the same time: there is just enough work. It's busy in winter and summer time, but in between these periods there is time to work on a project. In summer we have 2 extra short-term EVS-volunteers: it's very busy in this period, but it's also a big opportunity to work with different kinds of wildlife.
We are also open for sending volunteers to other projects in Europe. We want to give the opportunity for this amazing experience.
