Resumo: The volunteers would be active in the youth centre and the daily open activities and the special activities of the season. The youth centre is located in the eastern parts of Mölndal and the visitors are mostly of Swedish ethnic origin. The atmosphere in the youth centre is very friendly. The centre has a dedicated group that works in the café to raise money to go skiing every spring (each group works about two semesters). The area is basically middle- to upper class. The teenagers are mostly open-minded, although a few of them have difficulties connecting to people of other cultures and socio-economic standards. A lot of these attitudes are believed to come from their home environment. We work hard to prevent the youths from developing racist ideas and attitudes. In the youth centre there is no room for such attitudes and discrimination. In the youth centre we have a fully equipped kitchen and we usually bring lunch / dinner from the home and eat together. For lunch we also eat in the nearby school and take the opportunity to socialize with the young people there.

Perfil: Volunteers should be minimum 22 years old because of the youth centers target groups.

Tarefas: To work in the Eurodesk office/Youth centre and to implement information
ventures as well as other activities in relation to international youth
work. To help get the newly opened Eurodesk office/Youth centre get more
visitors and to introduce an interesting programme of activities and to
support youngsters with information about the Youth in Action programs
projects especially EVS or ongoing youth exchange projects. The volunteers
will also support the KEKS network with information sessions and workshops
about international youth work.
The volunteers will help with international projects: help in the process
of the application, report writing of finished projects and ongoing
administration and with economy. Keep contact with partner organizations.
To be able to help organizing special events and workshops for unemployed
young people about the possibilities and advantages of EVS. A large
possibility for the volunteers to take own responsibility and to run own
projects. To be able to work in the Eurodesk office/Youth centre both
daytime and some evenings a week.

Grevedämmet youth center has music rehearsal rooms and the volunteer can
also engage in the different possible music activities. Grevedämmet also
has a small Skate park and many young people come here especially in
summer/spring to skate.
Finally there is a possibility also to work with children with light
handicap such as Down’s syndrome in the youth centre, because the youth
centre host this group on certain hours each day. The last years
volunteers have implemented very fine music projects/concerts with this
group which has been very successful and appreciated by all parts.

Horário: Themes for the volunteer to engage in; homepage designing, homepage development, information work regarding international projects, Eurodesk + KEKS and assisting with research work and economy. The volunteer will be working approximately 35 hours/week.
Example Volunteer schedule:

8-12 Working at KEKS Eurodesk Office: Making contact international partners, designing homepages and working with information efforts
Lunch 12-13
13-16 Working at KEKS Eurodesk Office (once a week staff meeting and once a month mentor meeting - Follow up; work, general questions, etc) (Swedish lessons a couple of times/month)
Since most youth centres are open on evenings the volunteer will also have to work some evenings to be able to make contact with both staff and youth.
The volunteer will also assist in the everyday office work, including research and economy.
The volunteer will have a mentor who works along him/her.
The mentor is in charge of the EVS volunteer and will be working side by side with him/her, allowing more independence little by little.
The mentor and the volunteer will have weekly meetings and have a close cooperation
