Resumo: We see our mission in promotion the idea of international volunteerism in Russia by means of our long-term volunteering and short-term projects.
What are the aims:
-to assist the development of youth policy and youth movement in Russia
-to promote the Samara Region to young people and youth organisations all over the world
-to activate and unite young people from various cultural, political and national backgrounds
According to these aims we:
-co-operate with local and international non-governmental and non-profit organisations
-participate in international youth exchange programmes and organise such programmes in Samara.
Perfil: EVS volunteer profile:
- open to communication with new cultures and learning other languages, very different from the native one
- creative, friendly, energetic and ready to adapt to new environment
- a good command of English as well as PC literacy (Word, Excel) will be of use
- knowledge of Russian is important
Tarefas: The long term volunteer will support and assist the staff in the following activities:
- organisation of trainings for long term and short term volunteers
- internet research on possible fund raising
- updating profiles as well as web page
- assisting to the Active group in creating regular Newsletter
- assistance in developing Lastochki posters and information sheets
- assisting to the staff to organize meetings for local volunteers, mentors, host families
- general office tasks Volunteer is very welcome to propose individual project. EVS volunteer will not be directly involved in the management of EVS projects of other volunteers that are supporting in Samara. Volunteer will not substitute any of the staff members. The volunteer tasks will be revised upon volunteer arrival according to the current activities of the organization. Motivation and abilities of the volunteer will be taken into consideration.
Condições: A team of contact persons consisting of the project supervisor in the office and a mentor outside the office will keep in contact and will jointly provide support to the volunteer on an ongoing basis. In addition, the mentor who will not be a part of the staff will provide learning and personal support as well as immediate counselling and support in case of practical matters or problems to be solved and act as mediator in case of conflicts. S/he will report to the association. Mentor will be available to volunteer 24 hours a day/ 7 days a week. In case the problem cannot be solved within the project, the association will report to the sending organisation in volunteers’ home countries, which will liaise with the volunteers’ families if needed.
With regards to risk prevention and crisis management the following measures will be taken:
- The organizarion will send the information on selection to partners. Candidates will be carefully screened in face to face interviews by the sending organisations to detect difficulties which might be relevant for their participation in this programme or for stay in Russia.
- A health check is obligatory, vaccination will be recommended according to the health safety regulations of Russia.
- Volunteers will be prepared prior to their departure and particularly upon their arrival by the host organisation with regard to: the Dos and Don’ts, the rights and responsibilities as EVS volunteers, code of conduct in Russia, cultural differences, possible risks in the daily life and work environment.
The association will stay in constant contact with sending organization and request their participation should the situation demand it.
Formação: The volunteer will have an opportunity to obtain following skills:
- to ability to interact with different cultures, to listen and try to understand other opinions and other life visions, to treat cultural difficulties and misunderstandings as a part of learning process;
- to explore her/his own personality, as she/he will be confronted with new situations;
- to negotiate in different contexts and with people from different cultures / backgrounds;
- to be independent and autonomous;
- to experience team work and to learn various working methods;
- to take up the role of a leader;
- to speak foreign language;
- to admit and experience that flexibility and openness are essential in intercultural communication process;
