Perfil: The volunteer should be willing to work with young people. She/he should be flexible and able to work in a team. A basic knowledge of Greek language will be helpful but not absolutely necessary. Interest of using computer as a tool for work (MS Office, Internet) is necessary for the volunteer.

To publicize the vacant EVS placement, we send emails to other European Associations, and upload the vacancies on various networks, such as www.youthnetworks.eu and Eurodesk.
The volunteer is selected according to different points : the curriculum vitae, the letter of motivation, but especially the answers of the questions about her/his project.
The openness and transparency of the recruitment process is ensured by several meetings between the members of the association to choose the best candidate.
To match the activity with the volunteers' profile and interest, we ask different questions like : "What are your expectations of working in our youth information center?" or " What kind of project do you want to do?" to better understand the motivation of the volunteer.

The volunteer must like working with young people, because we are a youth information center. She/He can not substitute a job in this center because there is a competent worker for each task.

Tarefas: The activities in which the volunteer will participate are the following:
· 2mm.-4m.m. The volunteer arrives at “Melissa”, where will accompany the children to lunch and will assist in the kitchen. · 4mm.-8pm. The volunteer will participate in leisure activities within the building (sports, watching movies, playing with toys, help in studying etc.) or outside the building as an escort on outings for children (for entertainment or educational or sporting activities, social events etc.).

All activities are organized and supported by the staff of the institution and the volunteer’s role is to be a friend to the children, helping to give more attention and emotion in children who lack the luxury of personal relationship. This is the daily schedule that is repeated on a five-day basis. This includes the participation of volunteer at staff meetings sometimes. Changes may arise according to the schedule of the children. On Saturday and Sunday the volunteer may be participate in activities with the children, but only after a consultation and after being given another free day, respectively. The volunteer will be able to use all their skills in their activities. New ideas and suggestions about improving the project are always welcome. The volunteer will live in a shared flat accommodation, with another female volunteer from Portugal, have her own bedroom, with shared cooking, washing, laundry and social facilities. A monthly food allowance of 195 EURO is provided.

A monthly local transport allowance of 30 EURO is provided. The volunteer will receive a monthly allowance of 95 EURO. Please note that the volunteer will have to take 2 buses from the apartment to the orphanage, as they are on opposite ends of Thessaloniki, but bus fees will be provided. A basic level of Greek and previous experience in working with children will be appreciated, but are not required.
