Resumo: (Theatre & Community)
Founded in 1964, the hosting organization operates in the following areas:
- Performing Arts
- Publication
- Film & Audio Production
- Research/Archives.
The orgzanization finds it's artistic roots in the social engagement method known as cultural barter which, in addition to entertainment, encourages community interaction. With its 60 year history, the organization has nourished the growth of a professional and scholarly milieu characterised by cross-disciplinary endeavours and thus gained solid experience working both locally and internationally.
At the beginning of 2023, the organization completed a planned generational change. Under new management the oprganization no longer functions as an umbrella for independent groups, but as a theatre in its own right. More importantly, as a cultural institution, the organization is committed to modernizing the ways it operates to reflect that changing needs of arts community including new focuses on:
- the relational shift between emerging & established artists (moving from "master' to 'mentor' relationships)
- harnessing the power and potential of working as a collective
- busting the myth that high quality art results from suffering and instead recognizing that creative processes reflect the universal human experience (including and perhaps more importantly, wellness and joy).
- fostering dialogue with the understanding that art is essential to innovative communities
- accessibility of culture and art as a tool for ecological/social transformation
Perfil: Age: 18-30
We are looking for a young person aged 18–30 who is curious, open-minded and motivated to work with people of different ages and backgrounds. Experience in communication (social media, writing, photo or video) or in community work is a plus, as is an interest in theatre or the arts – but no specific background is required. You should be able to communicate in basic English, be willing to learn some Danish, and be ready to live in a small Danish town for 12 months. Above all, we value initiative, reliability and a wish to learn.
Tarefas: As a volunteer you will take part in the daily life of the theatre and support our artistic and community activities: performances, workshops, festivals and residencies, as well as co-creation projects with local groups such as refugees, seniors, migrants and LGBTQIA+ people. You will also help with production, audience contact, communication and greener ways of producing culture, and you will be encouraged to develop a small project of your own.
No theatre experience is required – curiosity, openness and a wish to work with people are what matter most.
We are hosting two volunteers: one from an EU or associated country and one from an EU neighbouring country.
Condições: You will live in shared accommodation with a single room, close to the theatre. You will receive a monthly food allowance and pocket money according to the European Solidarity Corps rates for Denmark. A bicycle is provided for daily travel, and transport from Billund Airport to the theatre is arranged on arrival. Your travel to and from Denmark is covered within the European Solidarity Corps travel rules, and you will be insured through the Corps insurance scheme.
