Resumo: (Food recovery & community kitchen)
The hosting organization started as a community kitchen in July 2021 and became an Association for Social Promotion (APS) in October 2021. The organization was founded by who has many years of experience in cooking, volunteering, and developing community food projects.
The organization supports people experiencing food poverty, as well as children, young people, and older adults. It also welcomes families and volunteers who want to get involved in activities that benefit the local community. The organization promotes social inclusion by bringing people together through cooking, shared meals, volunteering, and community events. At the same time, it works to reduce food waste and encourage sustainable food practices.

Support the heart of The Good Kitchen's daily activities.
+ Prepare and cook meals for the community.
+ Help with food preparation, serving, and maintaining hygiene standards.
+ Collect rescued food from local supermarkets.
+ Sort and organise rescued food.
+ Prepare food boxes for families in need.
+ Support cooking workshops with local children and young people.
Community & Outreach
Help strengthen connections within the local community.
+ Support the organisation of community events and activities.
+ Engage with local residents and project participants.
+ Promote sustainability and food recovery initiatives.
+ Assist with donation campaigns and awareness activities.
+ Contribute to creating a welcoming and inclusive environment.
Fundraising
Help ensure the long-term sustainability of the project.

Communications & Digital Media
Share the story and impact of The Good Kitchen.

+ Collect and organise project statistics (meals served, food rescued, volunteers, participants, etc.).
What We Expect from Volunteers
+ Be proactive and willing to take initiative.
+ Be self-motivated and able to manage your own time.
+ Feel comfortable working independently when needed, including outside the scheduled volunteering hours.
+ Be flexible, open-minded, and ready to support different activities as project needs change.
Horário: Morning
Preparation and kitchen setup
Start the day with a team briefing and kitchen prep. Wash, chop, and organise ingredients for the day's meals. Set up the dining area and ensure hygiene standards are met before cooking begins.
Midday
Work alongside fellow volunteers and local staff to cook and serve nutritious meals to community members. Share stories, laughter, and culture around the table — food is at the heart of everything we do.
Afternoon & Evening
Community activities and free time Join workshops, outreach activities, or cultural exchange sessions in the afternoon. Evenings are yours to reflect, explore Mussomeli, connect with locals, or simply rest and recharge for the next day.
The activities will take place 5 days a week for approximately 6 hours per day.
Volunteers will have 2 free days each week and 2 holiday days per month
Condições: Volunteers will be hosted in a large flat. It is surrounded by many of the historical and artistic monuments of town. On the ground floor there are the offices of the leader organization and spaces for recreational and educational workshops, while, on the first floor, on an area of about 390 square meters, there is the volunteers house. The flat has 2 entrances, one internal and connected with the offices below, one independent. House is provided with 5 bedrooms, all with windows, 1 kitchen, 2 bathroom areas, a laundry room and a large terrace. Various facilities will be provided to the volunteers: Wi-Fi internet h24, 1 TV, 1 oven, 1 microwave, 2 fridges, 2 hobs, 2 kitchen sinks, kitchen tools, washing machine, 2 washtub, iron and drying racks, 8 washbasins, 5 showers, 5 toilets, bikes and all the furniture needed to accommodate the volunteers.
ALLOWANCE PRACTICAL INFORMATION Participants will receive a pocket money of €6 per day for 181 days. The allowance will be forwarded by the finance office during the first week of activities. The rest will be transferred monthly.
