Resumo: The volunteer will live in Xylokastro town. She/He will work in youth information office in Xylokastro town, but also if needed in youth information office of Zevgolatio town.
The volunteer will work close to the house; he/she doesn’t need to take any public transportation. If the volunteers will need to work in Zevgolatio or another place, one of the members of the organization will take them by car or cover the expenses for the bus ticket.
Xylokastro is at the seaside of the Corinthian Gulf in Peloponnese. The area is agricultural; there are a lot of lemon fields, as well as orange, apricot and olive fields.
Tarefas: ROLE AND TASKS OF THE VOLUNTEER
The EVS volunteer's role will be to provide additional support to staff of the organization, working closely with qualified staff who will provide support and supervision at all time. This provides the opportunity to the EVS volunteers to share their own culture within their projects and with the local community. This will bring a new, international dimension which will benefit everyone. The volunteer must respect the rules and the organizational structure of the host organization. The volunteer will not act as a professional figure and this difference will be stressed by and with the professional staff. EVS is not considered as a working practice. The volunteer should be able to accept the differences in the working methods and the cultural differences in the everyday life.
Information Offices
Detailed description of the volunteers’ tasks:
Office work and coordination of the youth in action - projects
• Help the youth workers of the organization by calling the volunteers from the programes we coordinate for announcements, messages, and plan changes.
• Send emails for proposed projects of Orfeas to organizations in all EU;
• Pass material like papers-forms- tasks to the other volunteers etc.
• Keep open the information office for the public with the staff of the organization
• Prepare the information material for the future volunteers and send by post in cooperation with the youth workers
• Promotion of the Orfeas coordinated programs in EU organizations by the help of Facebook, twitter, myspace
• Prepare material for the EVS presentations in the local schools
• Call the volunteers for information, meetings with the trainers, mentors, staff etc.
• Organise the volunteers’ cleaning materials- needs of the orfeasEVShomes ect.
• Help to organize the monthly tickets of the volunteers (see if is national celebrations days off, vacations etc. for every volunteer)
• Organize the materials of the ex -volunteers (blankets, keys, and help to prepare the hosting of the new volunteers
• Organize the personal projects data base of the volunteers on duty
Youth work
• Helping in Promotion the EVS in the local schools
• Helping in Preparation of Greek EVS volunteers going abroad
• Participate in the preparation of the new coming Orfeas volunteers
Media project
• Media project ( interview Greek and European volunteers with video for the orfeas website)
• Work on Facebook of the organization, myspace, and twitter; uploading information
• Go on forums about EVS and uploading information
• Make press realizes for the website in English
• Prepare PowerPoint presentations about the programs of the volunteers Orfeas coordinates
• Work on the website of Orfeas like -orfeasEVSblog : upload pictures, videos with interviews from the volunteers saying few words promoting the outcomes of the evs projects.

Horário: The volunteers work from Monday to Friday, some days from 9.00 – 14.00 and some days from 13.00 – 17.00. The volunteer in cooperation with the supervisor will organize the working program on weekly or monthly basis.
The volunteer will take his/her vacation except of the national holidays that are free for everyone in Greece. All volunteers have 12 days vacation during the 6 months voluntary service that should be matched with the timetable of the office – if the office is closed and it is not national holiday or weekend, then volunteer must also take holidays.
Condições: MONTHLY ALLOWANCE
Volunteers are responsible for the preparation of their own food, they get 140 Euro/month for food. The volunteers are required to provide food receipts for all the food money on the last day of the month. The receipts must contain only food items.
The pocket money is 95 Euro/month.
The volunteer will receive the first half of the pocket money and the food money on the 1st of the month and the second half on the 16th of the month.
Opening a bank account:
The volunteers will be assisted to open their own bank account and receive a card in order to receive their monthly allowances and food money in this way.
ACCOMMODATION
Volunteers live in a rented house. There are three opportunities for accommodation. All the apartments are fully furnished. One of them (flat1) has four rooms (2 double rooms and two 3-bed rooms), three bathrooms, a big living room and a kitchen with all cooking facilities. The other apartment (flat2) has three rooms (1 double and two 3-bed rooms), two bathrooms, a big living room and a kitchen with all cooking facilities. And third apartment (flat3) has two rooms (1 double and one 4-bed room), one bathroom, a big living room, dining room and a kitchen with all cooking facilities. There is a free Wireless internet access, phone for incoming calls, TV set, a DVD home cinema, a washing machine, a microwave, a toaster...etc in all apartments. The bed-linen is provided; the volunteer should bring towels. The volunteer should be able to share the room with 1 to 3 other volunteers and we cannot ensure the volunteer where he/she will be accommodated.
Volunteers are responsible for keeping the house clean. The host organization have the responsibility to verify the standard of living conditions of the house in communication with the volunteers.
The cleaning materials for the housekeeping are provided by the host organization. Volunteers are also responsible for the technical equipments in the house. In case if any device is out of order it can take up to 7 days to be repaired depending on the problem.
The volunteers are not allowed to keep any animals, pets in the house; they cannot be noisy between 14:30- 17:30 and after 11 o’clock in the evening. The volunteers cannot host anybody in the house. The volunteer will live in Xylokastro. The host organization has copies of the keys of every flat and can go into the flat for certain reasons but always notifying the volunteers before.
Formação: Volunteers are entitled to attend Greek language lessons from the beginning of their voluntary service. The participation in the Greek lesson is obligatory.
