Also the clinic animation activities are very important in the EVS volunteer's agenda.

Working with other local partners in Bucharest or in other places the volunteers will be responsible in the front of them for activities connected with childrena and youngsters groups to make them open for a better understanding of the European values and diversity.

Example 1 of activities
The volunteer will work around with 7-10 groups of children (3-11 years old)/week for the intercultural educational program (games, music and creative activities) in kindergarten and schools
They are willing to meet youngsters belonging to other cultures and to get involved side by side with them in new projects. As part of this group, the EVS volunteers hosted by our organisation can participate in the already established current activities (the pedagogical and the clinical animation programmes) or in occasional cultural events such as: festivals, movies-making or theatre projects, puppetry courses. There are also the above-mentioned fund raising campaigns.

THE FOUNDATION OF THE VOLUNTARY WORK is represented by the creative involvement inside the clinic animation programmes. This means the specific animation programme created for the hospitalised children of the 3 paediatric units in Bucharest: THE PNEUMOFIZIOLOGY INSTITUTE MARIUS NASTA, THE ER CLINIC HOSPITAL GRIGORE ALEXANDRESCU and BUDIMEX HOSPITAL. There is both an individual and a collective training period inside the group for the assimilation of the skills required in this activity. All volunteers receive as 1st task to learn the technique of paper-folding, origami. It is a very important non-verbal communication tool used in our projects. Yet, youngsters are also much encouraged to use and further develop other artistic skills which they may already possess and which may prove very well-suited to the atmosphere of our partner-hospital units.

They have the chance to work in an intercultural team, because the projects involve usually more that 3 European volunteers for every project. This experience offer to the volunteer the possibility to understand and to know better not only the Romanian culture, but also other European cultures. The cooperation in the building activity time process creates real bridges between youngsters from different countries.

Some projects exist starting from EVS volunteers ideas, so if the volunteer is interested to create and to realise new activities, the organization should support him/her with all possible resources and of course with advices and local connections.

The main activities:
1. Doing clinic animation for the children in 3 hospitals of Bucharest (3 days/ week, 2 hours each day).

What is clinic animation?
Through this activity we are trying to cheer up the children and make them forget about the unfriendly environment of a hospital. Our volunteers play with puppets, balloons, draw, read, make different creation workshops, make origami with the children, depending on what the condition of the child is and on the way the volunteer likes to express himself.

Who are the beneficiaries of this activity?
The categories of children from the hospitals are with orthopedic problems or burned, from the oncology section or with lung problems.
Some of them are also from poor families or from other social areas with problems.

Their treatment often requires a long period in the hospital, an unfriendly environment for the child. Also, because of the condition of the children, working with them requires special care and responsibility form the volunteers, but also creativity.

2. Meetings with young people from rural areas, talking about a youngster’s life in an European context. Here you will use different methods like forum theatre or debates to challenge the youngsters to think about their role in the community or in Europe in general and about volunteering.

Who are the beneficiaries of this activity?
They are young people from high schools in rural, disadvantaged areas. Working with beneficiaries their age requires a special type of communication, different to the one of the beneficiaries from the hospitals.

3. Presenting your culture to children (4-11 years old) through games, poems, songs and other playful activities.
This activity will take most time of your schedule and throughout the year, you will meet hundreds of children from different kindergartens, schools, social centers in Bucharest and all around Romania.
With each group, each volunteer will have 3 meetings (1 meeting per week). From Monday to Friday you will have each day at least 1 meeting with one group.
