Resumo: Our main aims are:
1. Help non profit organisation with New technologies:
-to reduce costs
-to improve their communication
-to make their work easier and make them more efficient
2. Promote communication between organisations:
-to share resources
-to share ideas
-to they can join efforts instead of duplicating them
3. Approach New Technologies to Civil Society:
-improveme the management of information in Internet without any technical training
-promote Open Source tools
-because we believe New technologies should be a part to the need of the organisations and not the other way round.
4. Promote New Technologies as a useful and positive tool:
-so organisations are not apprehensive about them
-so that success can be applied immediately
because we relieve they are only a tool and it is only how we apply them that makes them good
5. Create a Network of experts in information technologies
-because training is the first step to bridge the digital ridge
-because knowledge has no owners
because we believe in sharing what we know

Perfil: rofile of volunteers
The candidates should be between 18 and 30 years old and live in a Partner or Programme Country. Concern for non-profit projects and use of Internet, browsers, e-mail, social networks,... are an asset. Hobbies such as photography, video or blog writing are also positively valued. No specific computer training is needed, apart from the basic use of common office packs.
Responsible people, with team working and organisation skills to achieve clear, easy aims. Therefore, motivation and concern for the project are the most important aspects. We would like to host men and women from different countries, taking gender balance into account and so creating a more intercultural and multi-linguistic dimension, important for the volunteers and the local community. We usually work with English, French, Spanish and Catalonian. Knowing some of these languages is an asset.

Tarefas: Volunteers will carry out daily work in a multicultural environment, where it is not strange to share an office with people from Serbia or Poland, or contact NGOs with projects in 40 countries. The opportunities offered by the Internet to all non-profit projects are used as a common device. Volunteers can learn about the Internet resources, communication 2.0, up-dating of web projecs, use of social networks or multimedia resources (video, image, presentations, specialised networks, etc.). Some of our ex-EVS volunteers still have links with iWith.org as members, volunteers, beneficiaries of a project or staff in organisations of our field. Participating in our projects involves learning about the new uses of the Internet.

Role of EVS volunteers

One of the aims of this project is to effectively involve volunteers in our daily work, with activity autonomy, contributing with opinions and participating in the support process with NGOs. Volunteers play a very important role, as it is based on long-term collaborations where all parts make contributions and learn in this new and exciting environment, where the Internet and non-profit world meet.

Activities of EVS volunteers

The project "ITC Communication" has 2 parts, both of them based on communication in NGOs and the use of ICTs.
A. Collaboration with the communication team of iWith.org and dissemination of our projects in the Internet and, B. Support NGOs with Internet.
We mainly communicate in 4 languages and work with many different cultures. This is why the interaction with international volunteers is very valuable for us.
The tasks will be established for each volunteer according to their knowledge, concerns and learning skills. Usually, volunteers provide their international point of view to our communication actions and participate in their design and implementation.
Example:
Translation of short texts
Write articles in web sites, forums and blogs.
Collaborate with other volunteers (not EVS volunteers).
Support NGOs using the Internet
Participate in the management of annual campaigns (Book Day, Contest of Summer Photographs, Internet Day, Christmas Cards,...).
Participate in supporting Internet communication of NGOs
Up-date web contents, Facebook, Twitter, Jumo, Youtube, Slideshare Facebook, Twitter, Jumo, Youtube, Slideshare and other social networks or 2.0 services.
Help to carry out events, presentations and video broadcastings via Internet, etc.

The volunteers will never be responsible for the activities (the staff members do). They will support and collaborate with the staff.

Our office opens from 9'30 to 19'30 hours, from Monday to Friday. Volunteers will participate during that time, with a lunch break (possibility of eating at the office).

Usually there is an individual learning process, complemented with the participation in courses organised by us about the use of the Internet in non-profit projects. Usually volunteers also participate in Team Building activities, like the lunch and tea-time meetings in our office.

We need people aware of the topics of non-profit organisations and concerned about Internet communications.
