About the hosting organization:
As one of the 16 German States the two city State forms part of the European multi-level system of government (regional, federal and European). The Department for European Affairs is linking these levels with regard to European issues.

One of the Department’s tasks is providing information on European topics for different target groups. The mission is to make Europe visible, accessible, and understandable for civil society. This work is being done via a number of main channels, in particular:

- Promoting mobility and education opportunities.
- Regional EU Direct information centre for the public.
- A major annual event series in May involving workshops, exhibitions and dialogue formats across the city.

Perfil: Age: 18-30
… can communicate in English (B1/B2 or more) and are willing to improve your German.
… have a high level of motivation to make democratic institutions and processes more tangible for others.
… take action to implement your own project idea using a dedicated budget.
… are an open-minded person, comfortable living in a multicultural district and in mixed-gender housing.

Tarefas: As a volunteer, you will be fully integrated into the team, adding a youth-centered perspective and fresh ideas to the work in the field of political communication with civil society. Your activities will include:

- Erasmus Coordination: Supporting the preparation of information material and outreach activities to schools, vocational institutions and youth organisations to promote European mobility via the EU’s Erasmus program.
- Contributing to the planning and organisation of the European Weeks by developing interactive and participatory elements and documenting activities for young audiences.
- Supporting daily visitor services and researching/preparing audience-oriented communication materials about the EU.
- Your Own Project: You will be encouraged to develop your own youth participation project (e.g., a social media campaign, a bar camp, a workshop for youth workers, or an art project). A special budget is implemented for this project, and you will have the freedom to decide independently what you would like to organize to engage young people in a dialogue about the EU. If you have already gathered experience in youth work in your home region and bring knowledge, network and ideas, we would very much welcome this additional input.

Condições: As an ESC volunteer, you will receive health insurance, monthly pocket money and money for food and other expenses (323€ + 210€). Travel costs will be reimbursed depending on the distance. The ticket for public transport is covered by the hosting organisation.
