Resumo: In this project there is one long-term volunteer in Youth Centre. The volunteering aims to promote solidarity as a value, adds cultural knowledge, improves language skills and offers equal possibilities to take part in volunteering actions. The aim is also to increase volunteer's working life, and everyday life skills, as well as practical skills which support active citizenship and are valuable in the future.

Perfil: Age: 18-30

Tarefas: The volunteer will take part in different kind of national and international youth work tasks in Youth Center; assisting our youth leader team with groups of 5-29-year-old kids and youngsters at outdoor (wilderness skills, hiking, paddling, etc.) and indoor activities (climbing, archery, sports, games, etc.), and learn how to arrange different kind of events. Volunteer also assists with group & camp coordination tasks at office. In addition to guiding works, we appreciate sharing great ideas to develop new activities for groups.

Youth Centeris also a hostel so volunteering includes assisting and getting to know reception, kitchen, cleaning, equipment rental and maintenance works. Those tasks are related to the youth work groups too that visit the youth center. Taking photos for our social media (Facebook, Instagram, web pages) to make the volunteering project visible is one of the tasks. There is a possibility to adapt the tasks depending on volunteer’s interests.

We make co-operation with Inari communal youth work, and sometimes help them to organize actions. Sometimes volunteers work also in Inari village youth house, which is place for local youngsters to hangaround and spend free time. So in Vintti, volunteers e.g. play games, cook, etc, with youngsters and it’s a great possibility for local youngsters to get to speak English. Volunteers might go visiting also other small Lappish villages to organize events or “international week” at schools or youth houses for local youngsters.

Horário: Volunteer gets 2 days of holiday per month. Holidays are kept as agreed with hosting organization, usually during more quiet season.

Condições: Pocket money is 7€ per day, and will be paid in the beginning of each month to volunteer’s bank account.

The volunteer will share apartment with 3 bedrooms. Volunteer is provided own bedroom in the apartment, but there can be short period sometimes when bedroom needs to be shared with another person. The apartment also includes shared kitchen, common area, toilet, shower and free wifi. You are allowed to use Vasatokka’s rental equipment, huts, sport hall and sauna free of charge whenever they are not booked for customers. Vasatokka provides bedlinen and towel. There is also washing machine in the center for washing laundry.

During your stay you are allowed to accommodate shortly (free of charge) your friend/ relative to your room, if it’s ok for your roommates. When you have guest, please tell it for our staff. For safety reasons we need to know how many people we have in our center in each day.

During the project you will have meals from Vasatokka whenever our kitchen is open for groups. If kitchen is not open, then volunteers prepare meals at the apartment themselves and buy food from grocery. Food money is 150 euros / month. There is no halal meat in grocery, but vegetarian and vegan options are available.
