• flexible, since there can be sudden changes to schedules
• motivated to do all kinds of working tasks
Priviledge of participation is given to applicants who are:
• currently unemployed
• aren't currently studying, or in training
• doesn't necessarily have experience with ESC or Erasmus+ projects
• doesn't necessarily have that much traveling experience
• can be considered a person with fewer opportunities compared to average person in home country according to ESC program guide
Tarefas: Volunteers will engage in the following areas: youth services, library and cultural services, primary and secondary schools, as well as sports and wellness services at the municipality.
Main tasks will include assisting in open youth group activities (for youth under 29), school-based youth work, and leading hobby clubs (such as skiing, sports, games, and crafts) for children and young people. Volunteers will also participate in non-profit events and adventure activities. Additionally, volunteers will share their experiences with voluntary work and the European Solidarity Corps at local secondary schools.
Volunteers will also collaborate with neighboring municipalities in planning and implementing joint projects. In the summer volunteers will assist in organizing and running two- week-long children's day camps in cooperation with municipal staff.
Beyond core tasks, volunteers are encouraged to contribute new ideas and develop activities. Volunteers will also join the municipality’s official social media team to share international perspectives with the local community. Tasks can be adjusted based on the volunteer’s interests and skills. Volunteers will work as assistants to permanent staff and will never be solely responsible for activities.
Horário: Volunteers work mainly 5 days/week. Workingshiftsregularlyincludeeveningand weekendwork. Work days last normally 6-7 hours, but there can be sometimes shorter and longerdays.
Condições: Accommodation
Rented apartment with furnitures, private bedroom, shared living room, showers, toilet, and well-equipped kitchen. There is a laundry machine in separate building, that is shared with other neighbours. There’s also a common sauna, which can be booked for the volunteers. Towel and bed linen are not provided.
The apartment is within 1km from the village, where the youth house, grocery shops, library, gym, health center and schools are located. Beautiful Olos-fell is within 5km from the apartment. Volunteers can use bicycle during summer months.
Food
Volunteers are offered ready-served lunch during Mon-Fri and possibility to buy affordable take-away meal. For those days when ready meals are not served(from mid-June until beginning of August), volunteers cook by themselves in the apartment and shop groceries from the village. Monthly food money amount of 125€ is provided for groceries.
European Solidarity Corps funding covers for:
• Travel reimbursement to Muonio and back according to distance Accommodation and meals or food money
• Pocket money 7 € / day
• Henner insurance (international volunteers only)
• On-arrival training
We strongly recommend taking your own travel insurance in case something happens to your luggage. Travel insurance is not covered by project funding.
Volunteers need to bring European health insurance card EHIC (free of charge) in order to get health care at the same price as Finnish citizens.
