Resumo: Kangasala is a small municipality with a population of appr. 28 300. It is located near the City of Tampere (18 km) with excellent bus connections to the city. Kangasala is also a town with natural ridge formations (from the ice ages), woods and several inland lakes for many kinds of outdoor activities.

We offer a chance to learn a lot about the Finnish culture, Finnish language, Finnish everyday life through working with children and families. We also offer a chance to teach us something about another country and it's culture(s). We also offer a chance to get a good look into the educational system, the national/local curriculum and legislation for early education.

In the Playschool a volunteer is an Adult together with the teachers setting a good example of responsible adult behaviour to the children. He/she helps children with daily routines (such as getting dressed for outdoor play) and learning new skills. The work includes both indoor and outdoor activities on a daily basis.

Perfil: We would like to host a volunteer of 18 years of age or older who is interested in working at a playschool specialized in teaching English to pre-school children.
We would very much enjoy a chance to learn new songs, games or activities from a volunteer worker.

Tarefas: The volunteer acts as a living proof of the advantages of learning another language and creates situations where the need of using English and/or finding a common way of expressing oneself occurs naturally to the children.
She/he contributes in the learning also by bringing another view and experience on many everyday matters. The volunteer may also challenge the teachers professional skills by wondering, questioning or asking for the reasoning and argumentation for the educational choices they make: we see this as a learning opportunity for the teachers.

The volunteer may also participate in publishing our yearbook or other printed material, developing our website, preparing teaching materials, creating and/or directing sports (or other) activities etc. according to his/her interests and skills.
