Resumo: (Working in a parents initiated kindergarten)

The Kinderladen is a parent’s initiative kindergarten with a specifically developed pedagogical concept focusing on intercultural education work. It was founded in April 2002. The Kinderladen is located in a district with a focus on cultural togetherness.
Approx. 20 children between the ages of 2 and 6 are looked after by 3-4 teachers.
Many of the children come from culturally diverse families and speak another language at home besides German. The cultural diversity and togetherness is a central part of the educational work. Finding out differences, recognising strengths and developing an interest in the others is experienced every day. It is important that the educational staff also reflects this cultural diversity. For this reason, an ESC-volunteer is an enrichment for children, their parents as well as for the educators.

Perfil: Age: 18-30

Open minded, no fear of talking, curious, want to learn new things, enjoy to be with children and to play with them

Tarefas: The role of the volunteer is to be a part of the day-care team while being an additional and different contact for the children. Through the European cultural background, through non- specialised training or hobbies, talents or interests, the volunteer can build a special access to the children. This is supported by the fact that the volunteers are linguistically also learners and share this learning field with the children.

Activities could include:
 Participation, organisation and content preparation of small and larger excursions
 Accompanying the group to weekly gymnastics and dancing in a nearby gymnasium
 Active participation in all activities initiated by the nursery school teachers, such as
 painting, handicrafts, morning circle, movement games, singing circle, reading aloud,
 games
 After intensive training, support of the teachers in putting the small children to bed
 Helping to prepare meals and instructing the children on how to do this
 Helping with cleaning and tidying up the children's play rooms under the guidance of the educators
 Participation in and organisation of various festivities (lantern festival, Christmas etc.)
 Cleaning the kitchen and the eating room after the meals
 Key Facts for the volunteer position
 The volunteer will work with a team of 4 educators
 The languages in the team are: German, English, Spanish
 There are no other volunteers in the Kinderladen
 There are 19 kids in the group
 The children are between the ages of 2 to 6 years old

Horário:  The volunteer is expected to work 30 hours on 4 or 5 days
 Working hours are possible between opening hours (8:00-16:00)
