Resumo: The PRO ROMA Association is a non-governmental organization that was founded in September 2008, at the initiative of Roma and non-Roma activists, from Iasi county, the North-East region of Romania, based on OG 26/2000, regarding the regime of associations and foundations in Romania in response to the urgent need for social inclusion of the Roma community.
PRO ROMA Association promotes quality education models that develop life skills among Roma people a sustainable development strategy, a society with a strong spirit of initiative, a special civic consciousness, and a true spirit of responsibility social.
Perfil: Age: 18-30
Tarefas: The activities in which the volunteer participates during the project contribute significantly to the achievement of its objectives, namely
1. Promoting education on hygiene, recycling and their impact on the environment and health;
2. Promoting ESC and Erasmus+ opportunities among young people from disadvantaged groups to facilitate inclusion;
3. Promoting civic engagement and active citizenship among volunteers and the Roma community through visual arts;
as well as to the volunteers acquiring knowledge and skills related to teaching through non-formal education tools; changing attitudes towards disadvantaged groups; acquiring personal skills that will help them become responsible, employable and more integrated citizens; understanding the sense of European belonging and being an active European citizen.
Individual activities:
1. Create a Personal Blog – Each volunteer will have to create a personal blog where he/she will make 2 posts per month at the volunteer’s choice.
2. Articles – The volunteers will have to write 2 article about their volunteering experience. This article will be posted on the association’s website.
3. Personal Project – Each volunteer is encouraged to develop a personal project with the purpose to help him/her enrich one/more competences from the YouthPass.
Group activities:
4. Personal Development Workshop: The volunteers should organize a workshop focuses on developing soft skills, types of communication and other topics at the choice of the volunteer.
5. Career Orientation Workshop: The volunteers should hold a workshop that focuses on helping young people get basic information on career development to do’s and opportunities.
6. I am Responsible Workshop should focus on explaining and understanding the concept of social responsibility through games, debates and other activities.
7. I am Creative Workshop focuses on creating and organizing cultural activities that enhance discovering the traditions (local/international) through dancing, painting and other creative ways at the choice of the volunteer.
8. English Basics Workshop: The volunteers will organize a workshop once per week where the participants will practice and learn English through games, conversations and any other methods that the volunteers see fit.
Team activities:
9. I am a European Volunteer, I have a voice: This activity will bring all the volunteers together at a national/local TV channel/ Radio channel on rotation, at 1-2 times per month. The topics will focus on volunteering experience aspects/ international content;
10. Create a Video: All 4 volunteers will have to create a video about their volunteering experience. It is important that besides their personal experiences, to follow the activities and provide proof of them in the video as it will be posted on the YouTube Channel, the Pro Roma association & the sending organization social media channels.
11. High School Visits: This activity will have the purpose to promote the European Solidarity Corps volunteering, the volunteers’ activities and provide a double perspective on how the volunteers see the situation between minorities and majorities both in Romania and in their country. The volunteers will be addressing to high-school students. Depending on the agreements that we will have with the high-schools we will decide on the frequency of these meetings.
12. Help 2 Help –The volunteers will have office hours when they will provide support to youth who come at the office of the association to find out more about the European Solidarity Corps opportunities and need help on finding and applying for a project.
13. Other activities that will help achieve the objectives of the project.
The volunteers are responsible for creating materials for all workshops. In the first period of the project the volunteers will focus mainly on this, the volunteers will meet at the office and will create the materials, the content and establish the games & methods that will be used in the workshops in order to facilitate the process of understanding and assimilating the information with ease for the target group. The volunteers are encouraged to use their skills and knowledge for creating guidelines, presentations and all the necessary materials.
All the materials and structure of the activities will be discussed and agreed with the hosting organization before proceeding.
All activities are subject to updates and modifications depending on the Covid-19 government restrictions, rules and regulations which apply on the territory of Romania.
