Resumo: The hosting organization is located in a small village with a couple of groceries, schools and sport facilities. The organization is close to both beach and forest which often is used for activities. The type of activities depends on the season, but examples could be going to the beach for a swim or touring on the school bikes.
The organization is a contemporary Danish folk high school. The students on our long term courses are primarily between 18 and 25 years old, but on our short term courses you will meet students of all ages. At the organization we believe that a precondition for peaceful coexistence in the world is the unbiased interaction of people from different cultural backgrounds.
The organization is working with sustainability as a main profile and our subjects, activities and daily life are based on the wish and work to contribute to sustainable development.
The organization offers an exchange of life experience, ideas and viewpoints among people from different cultures, building on responsibility to the community and respect for the individual.
As a volunteer you will be part of this unique community, and more important could have the opportunity to contribute to the multicultural meeting between young people from the whole world.
Our volunteers live at the school in a separate area with single bedrooms, shared bathroom and a kitchenette with a microwave etc. All meals are provided by the school in the dining room together with students and staff.
Perfil: Volunteers above 24 years of age until 30, who are open-minded, reflective, mature and full of initiative will be preferred.
The volunteers must be able to speak English at a conversational level.
A volunteer with a non-Danish cultural background will hopefully give us extra energy and inspiration to our work with sustainability and cultural exchange.
Tarefas: Individual activities depending on the volunteers´ interests and competencies in these 2 areas:
1. Practical work in our small permaculture garden and greenhouse and in our sustainable construction area. Assisting teachers in various practical tasks and in classes. Some tasks will be outdoor all year round.
2. Practical work in our office with various office tasks and being the link between students and the office, which requires good communication, organization and computer skills, and in our kitchen, assisting kitchen staff with various practical tasks.The individual activities will be the main part of the volunteers´ activities, so please state in your application which of the 2 areas you would prefer to work with and why.
General activities for all volunteers:
- Every weekend one of the volunteers will help the teacher with planning student activities, coordinating the meals, making sure that kitchen and weekend duties are done by the students and if needed welcoming guests to the school. The teacher who is responsible for the weekend will always be back up.
- Facilitating intercultural/leisure activities for the students.
- Participation in all arrangements and events run by the school and connected associations.
- Sport activities (optional).
- During our short-term summer courses, the tasks will also include service jobs like running a small bar, cleaning, working in the kitchen and assisting teachers in various activities.
It is important for you to be aware that the tasks can vary throughout the year depending on our different courses and activities.
Horário: Working hours: 30-38 hours/week
All volunteers save up to 2 holidays every month.
Condições: The volunteers are lodged at the folk high school where they will live in a separate area with bedrooms, bathroom and kitchenette with a microwave etc. All meals will be provided by the school in the dining room together with the students and the staff.
As a part of the European Solidarity Corps program, the following is covered by us:
International transport is covered to a certain amount. The EU sets a budget depending on the distance to our office. If you travel in a green way your budget will be higher!

Allowance/pocket money: 380 euro/month in total: 360 euro (decided by the department of the EU) + 20 euro from the local department.
Transportation covered: from home to project and from home to language school (if chosen).
