Resumo: (School for Youth with Disabilities, Ages 14–19)
The hosting organization is a Danish boarding school for young people aged 14–19 with a variety of physical and cognitive disabilities, including Down Syndrome, Autism, and developmental delays. The school offers a safe, caring, and structured environment where students can grow socially, emotionally, and personally.
Our mission is to:
Give young people with disabilities access to an active and inclusive youth life
Build life skills that support greater independence in adulthood
Create a meaningful boarding school experience with friendship, community, and personal development
Perfil: Age 20 - 30
Empathetic, patient, caring
Outgoing, sociable, positive
Have a good sense of humour
Motivated, adaptable, and flexible
Willing to learn from staff and follow guidance
Comfortable engaging deeply with young people with special needs
Interested in one or more of our main subject lines
A non-smoker
Able to communicate in basic English
Tarefas: 1. Your Role During the School Day
The volunteer’s primary task is to support the students and assist the teachers to ensure everyone benefits from the class.
You will:
Help students stay focused
Motivate participation
Support individuals who need physical or verbal guidance
Help maintain a calm, structured learning environment
Assist with materials, preparations, and transitions between activities
Encourage engagement in tasks suited to each student’s abilities
Once comfortable, volunteers may:
Suggest small activities
Contribute creative ideas
Assist in planning parts of lessons
Always in collaboration with teachers and pedagogical staff.
2. Your Role in Free Time & Boarding Life
Life at an efterskole continues beyond class hours. Volunteers form an important part of the boarding culture.
Your tasks may include:
Helping students wake up in the morning
Assisting during meals
Supporting evening routines
Participating in evening activities
Encouraging students to join social events
Helping organise and lead small activities
Creating a warm, safe, and fun atmosphere
All tasks take place together with staff. Volunteers are never alone with students and always receive guidance.

Depending on your interests and the students’ needs, you might:
Join handball training
Assist in cooking classes or daily kitchen routines
Help with animal feeding and stable care
Plan a small creative workshop
Lead a nature walk or games evening
Help prepare for weekend trips
Join music, games, or sports activities
Support during social nights or events
Horário: Working hours: according to school schedule; evenings included
Days off: according to volunteer program structure
