Resumo: (video, photography, editing and sound)
The Danish folk High Scools are a unique concept and part of the non-formal educational system in Denmark. The students are primarily young adults who stay at the college during the course. Classes are based on dialogue and mutual learning between teachers and students. A stay at a folk High School is very much about intercultural awareness and personal growth.
The school lies next to the sea in very beautiful natural surroundings. It was founded over 100 years ago and has kept pace with developments in modern education, with information technology playing an important part.
This is a school with the emphasis on art, performance and artistic processes. All students have choir, performance and reflection processes for emphasizing the development of the self.
The school has the following primary subjects for students attending the school:
Producing Performance Artist (PPA)
Students learn to become a producing artist and this involves all the aspects of the process of making a theatre. Thus, you train being an idea maker, producer, and performer. Subjects are, for example, dramaturgy, dramatic writing art, stage instruction, scenography, and light & sound.
Musical & Acting Courses
Students train and prepare for applying for the performance art schools but with a focus on the individual ambition and talent. Main subjects are solo singing, choir, drama, performance, improvisation, music theory, and reflection. All classes are taught by experienced teachers who are active in the Danish and/or international scene.
Perfil: Age: 18-30
The volunteer must be mature, open-minded and able to work based on his/her own initiative. Thus, our volunteers must be proactive and ready to be part of the staff and to represent the school and our values. We would prefer a person with a good command of spoken and written English language. Volunteers with a good knowledge of computer technology and communication such as video, photography, editing and sound will be preferred, but other intercultural skills will be important assets. Volunteers with an interest in globalization, art, performing Arts or artistic processes are also welcome.
Tarefas: + Documenting student’s activities and everyday life at the school (with a camera)
+ Recording the performances and artistic projects
+ Editing and graphic work
+ Strategic web communication and the opportunity to work with Social Media
+ Ad hoc help with the students in the kitchen – this is a shared home where all inside the home help each other
The volunteer will be a part of the staff – a very special fellowship that is only found at a folk high school. He/she will participate in the subjects in the spare time, and through the entire stay the staff will help and support the volunteer whenever needed. The international environment creates the possibility for the volunteer to be part of different intercultural activities and we encourage the volunteer to help create an intercultural environment at the school, bringing students together. This could be done through informal cultural activities, dancing classes, language classes, etc. The possibilities are many, why we also encourage the volunteer to be proactive and take initiatives. The volunteer collaborates with staff, teachers and students on different projects. For example, assisting teachers to make lights on a show or help students to record a video or take pictures.
The primary task of the volunteer is to document the daily life at the school, editing the footage and images and to publish it on social media platforms (home page, facebook, instagram). The volunteer will also work with graphic design such as making posters and flyers for events. There will be plenty of opportunity for new initiatives and for the volunteer to create his/her own activities. If the volunteer has specific creative skills he/she will also be very welcome to create practical projects using those skills or assist teaching or offer workshops in collaboration with a teacher.
There are also ad hoc duties that need to be done as the school is the home for many people. Therefore, we expect that our volunteers participate in various activities of cleaning or making food. Typically, cleaning is 1-2 hours a week, and making food is 1-2 weeks per year with other students.
As the programme is quite intensive, there are often activities at the High School on the weekends. If the volunteer works during the weekend, he/she will have time off at another time during the week. The average working hours per day will be about 6-7 hours. The volunteers will have Danish lessons they can attend inside of the school together with our international students.
Horário: Working hours: 30-38 hours/week
All volunteers save up to 2 holidays every month
Condições: The volunteer will stay and live at the hosting project. The volunteer lives at the hosting project, the volunteer will eat his/her meals there.
