Resumo: The Specialized Host Home (MAS) Marc Toussaint is located in Cormontreuil, one of the cities in the suburb of Reims. Reims and its suburbs, with approximately 200 000 inhabitants, is the most inhabited city of the region Champagne-Ardenne. Reims, located at about 150 km from the East of Paris, is known for the famous beverage of the region, the champagne. Strongly influenced by its business, the town is not limited by this product. Having a rich patrimony, it stays very popular for the tourists. Academic city, it also has a various industry. The numbers of the economic life of Reims (unemployment rate, average income by family) are close to the national ones. The city of Reims also has a lot of facilities: a good network of urban transports, leisure equipments, entertainments places…

The MAS has three apartments in its structure. One of them is inhabited by a nurse, the second one is for the resident's families, and the third one will be the volunteer's accommodation. This apartment is equipped of a kitchen and a bathroom. It also has a separate access of the MAS. The volunteer will have to respect simple rules in the apartment: respect calmness, keep the place clean, report any incidents, not smoking… All those rules will be notified to him at his arrival.
Therefore, this accommodation has the advantage to be located nearby the voluntary place, and, as a result, the inconvenient of being a little far from the city centre.

Perfil: The volunteer's profile
It appears necessary that the future volunteer gets and wants to develop human qualities as sense of listening, patience and aptitudes to communicate. They also will have to want to share and exchange, want to help other people, be ready to overcome some gestures of the everyday life.

A minimum of initiative sense will also be required. An essential skill will be knowledge in French and, most of all, that he shows the willing to express himself in French during his voluntary service. It is justified by the expression and understanding difficulties that the residents encounter and by the feeling in front of lack of understanding. Finally, we will watch over the fact that the young candidate is not afraid to work with disable people.

Selection Process

The Coordinating organisation will accept all the applications and will treat them equally, without any geographic, origin, sex or level of qualification discrimination. That is to say that it will judge the candidate's motivation and the adequacy of his application and his profile with the project. A particularly attention will be given to the argued applications presenting ideas on personal projects and/or activities to propose to the organisation.

The selection will be run through three steps::
Will be asked in a first time, a CV and a cover letter. After a first selection, the coordinating organisation will meet the host organisation to study the applications and to determinate whose candidates could match to the expected profile. At this occasion, telephonic interviews will be maid to evaluate better the motivation and the candidate's aptitudes. Then, the candidates could express themselves on what they want, and present their vision about the project and the place they wish to occupy.
At last, the host organisation will decide alone who will be the young volunteer

Tarefas: Role and activities of the volunteer
The volunteer's role will mainly be of three kinds:

- First, he will have a listening role. It will allow to the resident to exchange in a different way with a person who is not a health care professional.
- It will enable an intercultural opening for this public who has not much the opportunity to live European and intercultural exchanges.
- He will be a support to the animation team
The volunteer will realize his activities as part of the support of the animation team. The volunteer will help during the different activities. He will help the residents to participate and will help the coordinator in their organisation. Those activities having a main objective of well being for the disable people hosted in the organisation.
Different types of activities are proposed:
- Cultural activities: music, computer workshops, cooking, mosaics, slam / poetry, wood, shows, actuality…
- Leisure activities: games, sports lotto…
- Well being activities: balneotherapy, Snozelen…

The volunteer will have, of course, the opportunity to propose activities according to his self-interests (music, arts…).

Learning opportunities
The volunteer will have the possibility to discover how a non profit organisation works, especially in the field of Healthcar and disability.

It will allow him to have a better understanding of the variety of the professions related to the accompaniment of disable people. The volunteer will also learn how to interact with this public and how to lead adapted activities and animations.
The volunteer will also have the possibility to develop human qualities which will be necessary to evolve in this volunteering: relational qualities, sense of listening, patience, altruism.
