Resumo: The hosting organization is a non-profit association based in a rural area. It supports international cooperation projects and combats poverty and social exclusion by promoting sustainable, local economic systems.
The association offers new opportunities to people in need, works with schools through non-formal education about social and environmental issues, and encourages sustainable choices within the local community.
In the organization, you will find asecond-hand market, a circular tailoring workshop, a ceramics workshop, a community garden, a little farm, as well as many events.
Volunteers are at the heart of the association, and new European volunteers are welcomed with enthusiasm.
Perfil: Age: 18-30
Tarefas: - Creativity and inclusion through tailoring and ceramics
Volunteers can join the ceramics and tailoring groups to support inclusive workshops and contribute creative ideas. In the ceramics group, volunteers will work alongside people with disabilities to produce items for fundraising. In the tailoring group, volunteers will participate in events, stands and workshops on reuse and the circular economy. Throughout the months, volunteers will also have the opportunity to propose their own ideas, such as intercultural workshops on art or sustainable fashion.
- Community, nature and raising awareness
Volunteers can help to manage the community garden and animals, learn about agroecology, support school activities focusing on environmental and social issues, and contribute to public events organised by Manitese through logistics and communication. During volunteering period, volunteers will also have the chance to develop their own projects in environmental education or interculturalism.
- SECOND HAND MARKET
The second hand market is ideated to promote a culture of reuse, reduce waste and support the association’s self-financing. The second hand market is one of the organziation’s longest- running and most recognisable projects. Open twice a week, the market relies entirely on community donations. Volunteers contribute by collecting and sorting clothes and other items, arranging displays, managing sales, welcoming visitors and promoting the market through communication and special events.
As well as being a shop, the market is a meeting place for the local community and an educational space where schools and youth groups take part in workshops and tours reflecting on sustainability and the negative impacts of fast fashion.
- BAR
Bar is a welcoming and inclusive community space created to foster relationships, education, and active citizenship. Here ' s what happens at the bar:
- Cultural and social events, such as book presentations, debates on Agenda 2030 issues, musical evenings and artistic events
- Citizenship workshops such as sailoring, ceramics, making pasta
- Educational courses with schools: thematic workshops on critical consumption, social and environmental justice, inclusion and human rights
The bar thus becomes a permanent community laboratory, providing a space for people to meet, exchange ideas, and grow together through shared experiences of solidarity, culture, and creativity.
Condições: ACCOMODATION
Volunteers will live in a comfortable, well- equipped house. The house will be shared by European volunteers. Volunteer will stay in a single or double room, they will have access to shared spaces such as the kitchen, living room.
The house is furnished and equipped with Wi-Fi and all the necessary amenities, enabling volunteers to feel at home. The group will be responsible for the daily management of the house, encouraging respect for everyone's needs and promoting responsible cohabitation.
