Resumo: This project aims, respect for human dignity and human rights promoting a just and equal society where diversity, non-discrimination, tolerance, justice, solidarity and equality prevail. The volunteers gives opportunities to get to know Åland and its nature, culture and people by making a solidarity effort in the third sector and directly in the local community.

The aim of this is fully in line with the Solidarity Union's core values of solidarity, respect for human dignity and human rights and the programme's belief in the importance of promoting a just and equal society where diversity, non-discrimination, tolerance, justice, solidarity and equality prevail. Through the project, our organisation wants to create opportunities for young people from Europe to get to know our town and its nature, culture and people by making a solidarity effort in the third sector and directly in the local community. The volunteers are given the opportunity to make contributions to different associations and the assignments vary based on the associations 'current needs and the volunteers' interest and competence.
The associations are active in the social sustainability work such as non formal adult education and inclusion of those with poorer conditions in one area or another. Sustainability is both about environmental sustainability work such as waste sorting, recycling, and selection of cleaning materials, which the volunteers make an active contribution to while learning about through learning by doing and about social sustainability to take advantage of all people's opportunities in different ways. and needs.

The basic activity will be in a nature and environment organisation and the basis is to work in a spirit of solidarity where everyone can make an effort and at the same time get a chance to learn new things and develop.

Perfil: We are looking for socially minded curious people at least 20 years old who speak relatively good English.
We want them to contribute with curiosity, interest and commitment to other people and be an active part in activities and projects so that they add new knowledge and dimensions to the associations. It is also important that it is a practical help with various everyday tasks such as cleaning, small repairs, cooking various matters such as creating even better conditions for direct activities and projects.

In terms of skills, background and experience, this is important:
- that the volunteer has a solidarity perspective - that they want to make a difference for others.
- that the volunteer has an interest in working with people and especially young people. This is because the volunteers will help with youth activities and camps. It is important to understand that in these contexts, it is a basis for building relationships where, for example, gambling is one of the most important tools / resources for getting in touch with young people.
- that the volunteer has an interest in nature and outdoor activities: Åland is a small town and countryside, so in order to thrive, it is necessary for the volunteer to enjoy spending time outdoors even if the weather is not the best. We organize many different types of activities, for example with animals, gardening, excursions, walks in the woods, outdoor games and sports games.
- that the volunteer has knowledge or wants to learn about social media as a way to make activities and campaigns visible
- that the volunteer understands that as a volunteer in the third sector, you work to appreciate the small things and the simple life.
- that the volunteer is interested in and wants to learn about sustainability work, as the associations are active in the Sustainable Work and we both environmentally and socially work with a sustainability perspective on activities and activities.
- that the volunteer has an open mind, is flexible, energetic and eager to try different new things. This is because the volunteer will have the opportunity to do many different things in the different organizations. Some examples: doing junk campaigns on the streets or on social media, outreach youth work
- spending time traveling on small ferries around the archipelago, helping to organize and make programs at camps where the accommodation is in sleeping bags on school floors, planning and cooking, participate in the organization's meetings and social media marketing.
- that the volunteer can work independently and in collaboration with others.
- that the volunteer is open to change, well organized and ready for unexpected situations.
This is because there may be times when many things happen, or vice versa, times when there are only small tasks and you need to use the time for your own planned projects.

Priorities when choosing a volunteer are: cultural diversity we are looking for volunteers from different countries. We also see it as important to give the opportunity to volunteer to people who, from a financial point of view, have fewer opportunities to go abroad.

Tarefas: The main involved organizations and the works with theme:

* The organizing organisation, is a popular education organisation and have a small organization house, where the volunteers will have their base / office, but also take care of practical tasks such as cleaning and care. In the house about 15 different associations have meetings and 4 associations have their offices. In here, the volunteers will also be able to create different activities and participate in different projects. The organization will also arrange a language circle for Swedish training.
* the second place, works with teenagers to increase archipelago youth's opportunities for social life, give them the chance to get to know young people from other places and share their personal life experiences with others. The place is an empowerment organization for young people in a region with geographical obstacles. In the organization, the volunteers work is to participate and developing leisure activities that strengthen self-confidence and social skills. The goal is to develop leisure activities and to organize young people in the archipelago for their interests. To achieve this, the association do different activities as weekend camps where the volunteers will be involved in tasks as cooking, lead games and contribute to programs in different ways. The activities can also be after school. In this part there will be a lot of travel sleeping in sleeping bags at floors etc.
* the third place, runs three second-hand shops have a project about urban cultivation, recycling and social work interact in all their activities. Emmaus offers opportunities for in country volunteer work, job training for the long-term unemployed and low-threshold employment for people who are far from the labor market. The tasks for ESC volunteers include everything from store and cash register work to product sorting and supervision. This place also organizes various cultural events, conducts political advocacy and is an active member of the international Emmaus movement. At this place, the volunteers can work with many different things, such as event planning, practical work or communication and marketing.

The forth, which is an organization that works project-oriented with a strong focus on nature and the environment, they arrange excursions, talks and hikes. They have a garden that must be managed and run campaigns, for example against littering and unnecessary environmental interventions, for knowledge about chemicals and the joy of nature.
Other organizations that can contribute with tasks are, for example:
The Feminist Umbrella organization, which is an organization that in various ways is committed to gender equality, through activities, knowledge opportunities, projects and campaigns. The volunteers can be involved in preparing materials, be active in campaigns.
Puzzle families organization, is an organization for single parents, at there meetings there is need for children’s activities but also to help out in other activities.
The LGBT organization that do different activies as groups and Pride.
All organization work more or less with social media and digital activities that the ESC volunteers will be involved in. But there will also be possibilities to do work in other associations in the network.

During the first part during the volunteer period, the volunteers will work shadow, take part in and present themselves various of the organization's member associations' activities. They will get to take part in what the associations have going on but also make study visits to various activities and organizations to get to know the town and see opportunities and context. The next step will then be to work with various projects, depending on what the associations have going on and the volunteers' skills and interest. The coordination of this is handled by the organization and each volunteer will have a plan with both more short-term and long-term goals and activities.
