Resumo: The hosting organization is an extracurricular adult education centre; recognized and approved as such by the Lower Saxon adult education law. Its legal status is that of an association. Its facilities are located in the city centre
of the small town. As an education centre with added boarding facilities, it has an infrastructure to care for the needs of various groups: it has smaller seminar rooms for workshops, but also conference rooms for ca. 120 people.
Initially the association was founded in 1956 with the aim of contributing to the reconciliation between Germans and Dutch people after the Second World War, mainly by organizing cross-border meetings and shared learning experiences, especially involving young people.
The main part of our work today focuses on political education and within that scope on European issues. Political education is the basis of a functioning democracy. To us, the understanding of democratic values and participation in social processes are the prerequisites for living one's life responsibly and independently.
We offer so-called 'Bildungsurlaube' and 2-3 international (youth) meetings per year.
