Resumo: This is a project of Volunteering in the ecological farms.
The association, while taking on many projects in the cities to educate the consumers has also kept close ties with the countryside; the place that supplies our basic needs and the place that has the roots of our cultural heritage.
One of the projects is set up on the the idea of an ongoing tradition of exchange in Anatolia and inspired by the hospitality of Anatolian people. This project enables people to visit ecological farms which are in the system. People who visit farms can provide labor by their voluntary work in the farm or just be the guest of the farmer by contributing to the farmer's work with an amount of money. And in return, their need of food and accommodation is provided by the farmer. Visitors also benefit from the knowledge of the farmer, as they learn how the food they consume everyday is produced and have an opportunity to experience the difficulties of rural life. This occasion offers a chance of sharing the daily life, the food, the culture etc. with the farmers and thus makes it possible to experience different views of life. With this aspect, TaTuTa offers an opportunity to reduce the gap between the people who live in urban and rural areas.
The Association contributes to the healthy functioning of the project by preparing it, providing communication between all the stakeholders, bearing all the project's management risks and in addition, offers its own existing knowledge, experience, volunteers and physical facilities. By charging its volunteers, full-time and seasonal employees with monitoring, problem-solving and discerning faults, the Association and the TaTuTa project also provides these people with a learning opportunity, as it does for all of the project collaborators.
There are currently 69 farms in TaTuTa System and EVS activities will take place in 7 of them according to the volunteer's choice. These farms are official representatives of Association.
The farms that the EVS activities will take place are as follows:
1. Yakabagh house
Location: Fethiye/Mugla
The farm is beautifully set in an orange orchard overlooking Xanthos valley, a pleasant walking distance from the ancient Lycian city of Pinara. It consists of two gardens, one in the backyard with fruit trees, vegetable and herb gardens. The other garden, a short distance away, holds a vineyard and olive tree. The hosts Sinan, Isabel, and their five year old daughter Iris, love sharing their home with guests. Sinan and Isabel moved away from the “big city” into this remote part of the Mediterranean eight years ago, and have been growing their life here ever since. Sinan Anadol worked as a photojournalist and focused on articles on ethnic culture and indigenous peoples living in harmony with the land. He loves music, conversation, and Thai massage. Isabel, originally from Cuba, has a love of cooking, and enjoys trying the many varieties of seasonal herbs the valley has to offer. They accept guests and volunteers all through the year and they host them in the three extra rooms they have in their own house. They are going to set one of these rooms for EVS volunteers.
They have a swimming pool, a ping-pong table, two bikes that the volunteers can use. There is also possibilities to make trekking in the forest.
