Resumo: The hosting organization is an after-school shelter and center for neighborhood activities. In the first place, we offer a safe place for disadvantaged children between four and twelve years. Every day we catch between 40 and 50 children, who are at arrival to get a hot meal. Between 1 and 5 o'clock in the afternoon, we provide an educational and stimulating activity program. The children are divided into three age groups. Also, we provide (supplementary) education and offer homework assistance. There are regular trips and educational excursions for the children. The organization has an integrated approach and wants to have a binding and constructive function in the neighborhood.

Perfil: Age: 18-30

We are looking for a motivated and passionate individual to join our project as a volunteer. This opportunity is specifically intended for someone who may not easily have access to such experiences due to various life circumstances – whether that’s financial hardship, living in a rural area, or facing economic or social barriers. The ideal candidate is someone who: Shows genuine motivation to learn, contribute, and grow; Is open, honest, and willing to connect with others in a respectful and meaningful way; Approaches challenges with enthusiasm and a positive attitude; Has perseverance and the courage to keep going, even when things get difficult. We believe in giving opportunities to those who are often overlooked – not because of a lack of potential, but because of the obstacles they face. Tarefas: • Monday and Tuesday: Assisting at 'House of Hope' with welcoming and entertaining mainly elderly people at risk of loneliness, with games, and having lunch together.
• Wednesday: ‘Buurtservice’ at the organization Perspectief. The supervisor and mentor of Perspectief will assign the volunteers various activities. The tasks depend on the season and the needs of the neighborhood residents.
• Thursday: Dutch language classes and meeting with mentor/confidant. Working on personal assessment using the Youth Pass and disseminating activities on social media.
• Friday: Tasks assigned by the ‘Buurt-service’ supervisor.
The participant will be involved in garden maintenance at both House of Hope and Buurt-service Perspectief, as well as other tasks such as assisting with small jobs in and around the homes of neighborhood residents. Social media will be a secondary task and can be carried out on Thursday or Friday.

Condições: You will share accommodation in the heart of the historic city, with your private sleeping area. The city is centrally located in the Netherlands, making exploring the country easy by train. The train station is within walking distance, and you'll have a bike for commuting to your workplace.
You can take the train or bike to work in Deventer when the weather is nice. Our workplaces are the 'House of Hope' in Deventer and Perspectief/Buurtservice The accommodation is fully equipped with modern amenities and has been recently renovated for your comfort.
