Resumo: (Volunteering Teams in High-Priority Areas)
Eyes Wide Open is a 3-year Volunteering Teams project aimed at creating counter-narratives to promote healthy lifestyles and cultural heritage preservation in 3 different countries (Italy, Greece, Bulgaria).
This Volunteering team is part of the third year of the project NEW NARRATIVES focused on raising awareness, promoting and supporting the preservation of cultural landscapes in marginalized rural areas

Over the years, the organizations have forged a strong connection, sharing similar philosophies and thriving together in parallel directions. As a result of this close bond, Liveloula will be hosting the project this year

Tarefas: 50% of the project is focusing on 3 pillars supporting the activities happening in place or together with the surrounding community.

50% of the project is focusing on creating a nurturing ecocommunity consisting of the volunteering teams' participants.

The pillars of the project
1.Cultural Landscapes
Every landscape tells a story: of the people who shaped it, the traditions passed down through generations, and the deep connection between humans and nature. Through this project, we will work to protect and promote these cultural landscapes, ensuring that their stories are not forgotten. We will explore the land, visit historic sites, and engage with local communities to understand and document their heritage.
By organizing workshops, events, and community activities, we will raise awareness about the importance of these places and the traditions they hold.
Our efforts will go beyond simple preservation; we will actively contribute to the protection of these landscapes by sharing their significance with a wider audience. We will become storytellers, ensuring that these places remain alive in the collective memory of future generations.
2.Digital Archive
History is not just something found in books, it is alive in the landscapes, traditions, and practices of communities. To preserve these stories, we will create a digital archive that captures the essence of local cultural landscapes and the people who sustain them. Using visual media and photography, we will document the unique ways in which people interact with their environment. Through guerilla filmmaking and creative digital methods, we will transform everyday tools like smartphones into powerful storytelling instruments. The archive will not only serve as a collection of memories but also as a resource for education and inspiration. It will be an evolving digital space, accessible to all, where traditions, knowledge, and sustainability practices are safeguarded for future generations

3.Sustainable Traditions
Sustainability is often seen as a modern movement, but the truth is that many of the best practices for living in harmony with nature have been around for centuries. We will reconnect with these traditions, learning directly from local communities about sustainable farming, herbal medicine, eco-building, and other nature-based practices.
We will document, refine, and share these traditions in a way that makes them relevant to today's world. Through hands-on activities, research, and innovation, we will bridge the gap between the past and the future, ensuring that ancient wisdom continues to shape sustainable living in the modern age.
By integrating these practices into our daily experience, we will become active participants in shaping a future where cultural heritage and environmental sustainability go hand in hand.

Condições: - You will be staying in a tent. If you cannot bring your own tent we will try to provide one.
You can camp nearby the communal spaces, but also you can set up your tent more private in the woods should you wish.
- There is an outdoor shower with fresh mountain spring water, an indoor solar heated shower or bath, and a small swimming pool
- Moderate use of electricity in general. Due to that fact, there is no possibility of using devices that consume a lot of energy like hair dryers, hair staighteners etc and washing of clothes can only be done in the traditional way.
- Communal spaces include a roofed hangout space, a pergola outside hangout space, a kitchen, compost toilets and a lot of gardens and food forests
- We love food and we are all about food! We mostly eat what our gardens and surrounding nature produce and source organic to cover the rest of our needs. Primarily we follow a mostly vegetarian and seasonal diet and sometimes have eggs from our own happy chicken.
- This is a no-drugs venture. We believe that human beings can reach the utmost of their potential without the consumption of substances.
