Resumo: The host community is located in Idro. The town of Idro is situated in the middle of Valle Sabbia, 50 km from Brescia, at the southern end of the Lake of Idro. It is located at 368 meters above sea level, and it has a population of 1900 inhabitants.
The mountains surrounding the lake are ideal for hiking or mountain biking. To the north it borders with Trentino and the Dolomites, which have well-known tourist destinations (the best known is Madonna di Campiglio).

The villages of the Valle Sabbia are all medium or small-sized and are not very well connected with one another by public means of transport (the bus line crossing the valley provides a run every hour, and only during the day). The inhabitants of each municipality have developed a strong sense of belonging that is reflected in the organization of festivities, festivals, etc..

The area is mainly industrial, the unemployment rate is near zero, but the school dropout is high due to an early job placement. The high level of employment has led in recent years a migration from the area sub-Saharan Africa.
In Idro there are a library, a chapel, a swimming pool, a sports field with an adjoining football field, two camps, some hotels and many bars, pubs and pizzerias.

The accommodation for volunteers is located in a building about 50 meters from the CDD and the community, just across the street. The apartment has a kitchen, a large living room, two bedrooms, one bathroom and one laundry. It is on the ground floor and has its own garden, where volunteers can spend their free time during summer or spring days. The apartment is about 100 meters from the lake and a from walkway that runs along, giving pleasant views of nature. Not far away there is a swimming pool open to the public, many local shops and church.
In this building, upstairs, the elderly owners live and this is why volunteers must follow these rules:

Perfil: We are looking for a person with the following attitudes:
" Interest in working and motivation to have a relationship with people who have handicap and problems of disabilities
" Availability to put himself/herself in the game in the relationship with the disabled
" Interest in social integration and equal rights
" We would prefer a balance in terms of gender, that is to say it would be preferable to have 2 boys and 2 girls.

the maximum number of volunteers that the organisation is able to host at the same time is 4.

For all the volunteers with fewer opportunities, we can activate additional tutoring activities and reinforced mentorship (thanks to the presence of staff specialised in educational and psychological areas).
Furthermore on our territory we cooperate with organisations specialised in youth work which can be of support for volunteers with specific needs.

We are certified ISO 9001 and we are obliged to follow all the procedures foreseen by the Law in terms of safety and risk prevention.

Tarefas: ALL THE VOLUNTEERS

Assistance on the minibus

There are 4 minibuses which are used to transport guests from their private home to the centre every morning and from the centre to their private home in the afternoon. The volunteer works together with the minibus driver and s/he has to entertain the guests during the way.
Time dedicated by the volunteer to this activity: 15 hours per week, 40% of the whole volunteering time.

VOLUNTEER 1

Cookery group

The cookery workshop takes place once a week; the people belonging to this group have to choose a recipe (an hors d'oeuvre, a sauce for pasta or a cake) and cook it. At the end it's eaten all together (disabled and operators). Involving of volunteers allows to cook meals typical of their countries and which can be prepared with the disabled and then enjoyed all together.
This action arises as the ideal continuation of the themes of traditional and seasonal cuisine whose purpose, in addition to autonomy and self-enhancement pursued in each group kitchen, are nutrition education, by increasing the variety of dishes like user . People who attend a CDD have a cognitive development that does not exceed the actual operating period (Piaget's stages of development), and then providing them with real situations is the most effective method to internalize concept.
Tasting a new recipe typical of another country and experimenting different habits in the field of alimentary education is a good way for the disabled to learn that in the world exist different life-styles.
Time dedicated by the volunteer to this project: one morning a week (more or less 10 hours per week): 26% of the whole volunteering time.

Worshop of expression "artefatti"

The concept of "artefatti" is aimed developing hand-made products through so called "creative doing", based on collecting recycled materials (aluminum, paper, cartoon, plastic bottles and other materials collected in the Centre or in the near environment).
The workshop is focused on the process of "creating", in order to give the possibility to the participants to experience the creative work, according to the fact that there is nothing "right or wrong": the important is to be creative.
Since the aim is to increase of design skills, it's necessary to develop the observation of objects, to try different materials in order to avoid that the participants persist in using the same stuff so, in this point, the presence of the volunteer is crucial.
Development of emotional functions: the ability to modify an object will bring out feelings and emotions to be managed.
Development of perceptual functions: that are specific mental functions of recognizing and interpreting senses. The smells, the contact with the materials and colours in the workshop will be fundamental to identify and try new ways of appropriation of objects, changing them.

VOLUNTEER 2

Sport activities: football training aimed at the participation to tournaments and friendly matches

Some years ago we have started up a project for the realization of a football team with weekly training sessions during the whole year and the participation to a regional football tournament for disabled and to some friendly matches (every year we organize a football match with the local politicians). The purposes of this project are: to improve socialization, motion abilities, but also self-esteem, to teach the respect for rules, the perception of oneself as a capable individual, to increase motivation. The operators involved in the project are: a professional in motor activity who acts as the trainer of the team and an educator whose work is focused on the relational, motivational and psychological aspects. The volunteer has a role of entertainment. As a young man/woman is not perceived by the disabled as an operator hence there are more possibilities that a relation of complicity and a spirit of friendship can grow between them.
The team gathers one afternoon per week for a two-hour training which takes place at the municipal football pitch during summer time and at the municipal gym during winter. During spring and summer the training sessions become more frequent.
Time dedicated by the volunteer to this project (included training and tournaments): about 8 hours per week: 21% of the whole volunteering time.

Motor activities

Besides the football team we organize also other typologies of projects for the development of the motion abilities of our guests: swimming start-up courses, sessions of "sense-stimulation" in swimming-pool for more fragile disabled, and courses of gymnastics. Volunteers support the educator showing the guests how to do the exercises. Sport is a very effective and incisive tool to knock down barriers and mitigate differences. The volunteer and the disabled can be simply two young persons that go together for 2 hours in the same swimming-pool. This experience allows the volunteer to develop an inclusive attitude which combats social exclusion.
The operator of course will be present side by side with the volunteer.
Time dedicated by the volunteer to this project: 15 hours per week 39% of the whole volunteering time.

VOLUNTEER 3
