Resumo: The Association was born in 1982. In that moment the existing helplessness and the lack of coverage and institutional aid prompted a group of parents of children with intellectual disabilities to set up the Association to create a care center that did not exist in our region.

Despite of the difficulty of the beginning and the big challenges assumed, thanks to the determination of parents, workers, partners and volunteers, as well as the help received from some municipalities we got to make a dream into reality. Since then our Association has been providing support uninterruptedly to people with intellectual disabilities throughout their life cycle.

Currently, the association has managed to consolidate itself as a key agent of social change in our province and we participate in the cultural, economic, social and institutional spheres of its area of action. The association has its own and very defined idiosyncrasy based on values shared by its members. Its philosophy of inclusion and normalization has given it wide recognition. The association was declared an Association of Public Utility by the Council of Ministers on March 26, 1993.
Our organisation has diversified its range of services to respond to the different needs of people with intellectual disabilities according to their life projects

Perfil: Age: 18-30
We are looking for a person with previous experience in social work, and work in the field of inclusion or related to people with disabilities will be an asset. An intermediate level of English is required and a basic level of Spanish would be an asset.

Tarefas: The Association is offering two long-term individual volunteer positions for a period of 12 months. Our organisation is a reference at regional and provincial level in the field of people with disabilities. It has several day centres, a residence and a centre for the pedagogical development of people with disabilities. It has more than 30 years of experience in the field of inclusion. The tasks to be developed during the volunteering project will be mainly the support of the activities carried out by the entity, as well as the organisation of workshops for the users of the day centre.

Condições: 200 euros will be provided for food money, as well as 6 euros per day as pocket money.
Travel costs (by public transport) will also be covered within a budget band to be determined according to the distance between the home country and Spain.
Accommodation will be in a room with other volunteers, sharing a room with another volunteer of the same gender.
