Resumo: Our non profit organisation is providing after school day care for children from 6 to 10 years old (elementary school). Our privately organised association was founded as a social project, out of the desperate need for qualified after school care. The after school care facilities provided by public service did not meet the pedagogic ideals and emotional expectations we try to achieve for the care of our children. Furthermore there is no sufficient quantity of available day care places. For that reason an ambitious group of parents decided to start our group. Most of the parents have an intensive experience with longstanding children's groups in Vienna, based on free learning, and we see our organisation as the logic consequence and continuation of this outstanding way of care giving for small children. EVS was an essential part of the philosophy of the children's groups the children visited before and we are familiar with working with volunteers from EVS.

Our philosophy is to support and accept each child as an individual within a community of children having equal rights. Each child should be encouraged to develop self-consciousness and self-confidence in order to take independent decisions while showing consideration for the other children in the group.

Our goals are:
- Support and develop creativity with our children - they are our future
- Let children live their fantasy and their own ideas - we do not want to produce conformist members for our society
- Provide them with safe surroundings to be able to express their own opinions and learn to become socially responsible - differences are important and it is important to learn how to deal with human differences
- Stimulate curiosity and open their minds for new and different cultures - we are a small country within a big and united Europe
- Provide the opportunity to learn languages - which is the key to understand other people and their culture

Perfil: A volunteer should in general be interested and willing to work with children. This is simple the only condition we have for volunteers. No further experiences or skills are required.

Tarefas: Activities:
Children are picked up from school (first grade only)
Lunch (food is cooked by the parents themselves) together for all children at our facilities
Homework is done in groups of 2-4 children, depending on age and subject
Leisure-time occupation and playing-time are focused on creativity, art work, languages and sport activities

roposed Activities
We provide after school day care for 14 children (age 6-10) Monday to Friday from 12:00 until 17:00.
A working day for the volunteer look as follows:
12:00 - 13:00 Pick children (groups of 2-4 children) up from school and have lunch (food is cooked by the parents themselves) together with the children at our facilities
13:00 - ca. 14:30 Supervise homework (in groups of 2-4 children, depending on age and subject),
14:30 - 17:00 Participate in and offer leisure-time occupation and playing-time activities such as art work, languages and sport activities etc. to the children
Close the day together with the children, help cleaning (together with children and staff) and evaluate the day shortly with the staff.

During the leisure time programme , we expect the volunt
eer to take up and initiate own activities. The volunteer will be given the possibility and responsibility to initiate and execute his/her own projects with the children. Whether he or she engages in an art, music, history, science, language or political subject for the individual project with the children, depends own his/her interest and background. Any support necessary for his/her activities will be provided by us. In accordance to the volunteer, it will be agreed upon how many projects the volunteer will do, how much responsibility he/she will take etc. We expect this to develop in course of time, according to how comfortable the volunteer feels, when he/she will learn the language etc. Project examples could be a theme week about the country the volunteer is from (every afternoon could have a different focus, like: Music, traditions/habits, games, cooking, language etc). Another possibility would be a project about some special talent the volunteer has: this can be regarding a specific sport, or about music. The volunteer would develop a concept together with the staff how to transfer his/her knowledge about this hobby or talent to the children.

Time for the project work for the volunteer, which takes place during the leisure time programme, will amount to about 40% of the time spent with the children. 10% of the work will be meetings with parents and staff, 50 % is time spend during daily activities like eating, doing homework, cleaning up. During these activities, the volunteer will also interact with the children during most of the time.

Horário: There will be regular team meetings as well as meetings with parents outside of these working hours for about 2-3 hours per week
Total work time per week: about 30 hours
Holidays: according to the Austrian school holidays:
Christmas 2 weeks, semester break 1 week in February, Easter holiday 1,5 weeks in April.
