Resumo: Project Environment
ORANGE 94.0 is a community radio. It provides open access to all kinds of non-commercial radio-programs. ORANGE 94.0 is organised as a non-profit and non-governmental organisation. About 450 community-radiomakers are producing programs 7 days a week, 24 hours a day within nearly 200 different programs. Project Environment
ORANGE 94.0 is specifically aiming at the support of radiomakers, who represent segments of society, which are underrepresented in the mainstream-media. Thus, for instance, the program includes various radio-shows done by migrants in their mother-tongues. The program also includes shows done by children and youth, whose conventional role in the mainstream-media is rather that of consumers or objects and not of active producers; and so on.
ORANGE 94.0 does not broadcast advertisements and commercials in order to create a space for radiomakers which is independent of commercial interests. This concept has been working very well. For more than 11 years now, ORANGE 94.0 has been broadcasting content which in many respects doesn´t find adequate access into the mainstream media. This includes feminist women´s programs as well as experimental music or philosophical debates. ORANGE 94.0 provides equipment and technical support for the radio makers, as well as assistance where needed, and a basic education in media law.

ORANGE 94.0 is situated in Vienna. It is accessible to people from all segments of society and the broadcasts represent a broad spectrum of the inhabitants of the city. Within the project however there is a broad participation by migrants as well as by various social initiatives. Thus the project offers an interesting and multicultural environment to the volunteers.
As described above, ORANGE 94.0 implicates an emphasis on multicultural media-production. The volunteer him/herself can add to this dimension of the project as well.

Perfil: "Volunteer Profile
ORANGE 94.0 is interested in all volunteers which are open to a multicultural work environment and have a great interest in (alternative) media. It is helpful but no reason for exclusion if the volunteers already have some experience in practical media work. They should at least have finished high school. German communication skills needed

Special Needs
ORANGE 94.0, as a radio station that is open to people with special needs, is barrier free and accessible for wheelchairs.

Tarefas: Proposed Activities:
To start with, the volunteer will gain insight into how to make radio: interviewing, live-radio, technology, cut and mix. He/she will be integrated in our multiprofessional team of ten persons (50% female/50% male) and will assist our programme coordinator in program scheduling, organizing outdoor-projects and the coordination of recording sessions. He/she will as well work on different administrational tasks, like communicating with people approaching the radio with various questions, learning skills needed for sound recording, auditing and producing audio material.
According to his/her interests and abilities he/she will be able to create his/her own radio program.
Our experience in the past has shown that the project is enriched by the volunteers. Coming from various cultural backgrounds the volunteers can contribute to the diversity within the project. The volunteers´ contributions are especially welcome for the sake of cultural exchange on a European level.

This project is coordinated by Grenzenlos, which means that the volunteer will be integrated in the MELANGE programme, the EVS in Vienna in cooperation with the city of Vienna/wienXtra. This means that they will have the opportunity to meet 25 other foreign EVS volunteers as well as Austrian
returnees. All volunteers will be offered a leisure time program, in order to get to know specifics about the Austrian and Viennese culture. There are monthly meetings in order to offer continuous follow-up of the volunteers and to offer a social event where current, future and former volunteers can meet. Grenzenlos also organizes housing, helps with finding language courses for the volunteers and offers a mentoring programme as well as help with all administrative matters.

Proposed Activities
As shown below, there are a lot of different learning opportunities within ORANGE 94.0 corresponding to the work fields . In general, the volunteers will work in a lively working environment with skilled and very helpful team members on their own responsibility and according to their interests as far as possible. .
The volunteers work approximately 30 hours a week. The variety of activities within the project is rather broad. To a certain degree, this enables the volunteers to pick their tasks out of this variety according to their interests. The volunteer works within a multiprofessional team of ten. The work fields are general management, administration, public relations, project management, training, programme coordination, sound engineering and IT. The volunteer also gets his or her own tasks and responsibilities within these work fields. Tasks include: 30% Administration: the administration of subscriptions, coordination of the declarations of broadcasting, production of editorial licenses, answering the telephone.
20% Support of radio makers: coordinating the availability of equipment for the radio makers, talking with radio makers in the office and on the phone.
30% Editorial work: according to special interests of the volunteer, he or she can develop own activities within the Radio: he/she participates in one or several of the following activities: production of jingles, journalistic work for special campaigns (e.g. against domestic violence), maintenance of audio and IT-equipment ;
20% coordination of regional, national and international projects (e.g. content-exchange with our partners in various European countries), adult-education.
Also, there is the opportunity to develop own programme ideas and broadcast these in our programme.
