Resumo: Centre of creative work with children

The voluntary work placement will be in the Centre of Creative Working with Children (Κ.Δ.Α.Π.). In our Center can be participated children in between 5-12 years old. Our Centre employs four educated, specialized employees who are responsible for the workshops, and they will give every support for the volunteers what they need.

In our value has a big role to create an environment where qualified experienced staff can develop themselves and continuously give their best performance in the classroom and develop in children the knowledge, skills, attitudes and concepts in key learning areas.

Our goal is to provide learning experiences that are appropriate to a child's age, learning readiness, stage of development and level of maturity. Our target group are children aged between 5-12 years old that we would like to give a high standard care and at the same time to give a learning experience with several workshops that the children can take part in such as handcraft, painting lessons, theatrical games, music workshops, moreover we go for excursions, trips.

Tarefas: The EVS volunteer's role will be to provide additional support to the instructors and other staff at the host organizations/ hosting projects, working closely with qualified staff who will provide support and supervision at all time. This provides the opportunity to the EVS volunteers to share their own culture within their projects and with the local community. This will bring a new, international dimension which will benefit everyone.
The aim of hosting international volunteers is to establish an exchange of knowledge and to let young people know about this opportunity that the Youth in Action program provides. International volunteering is good to bring different cultures together, to diffuse the existence of development projects and to exchange experiences and knowledge. A volunteer from a foreign country could be an excellent opportunity for our local community, mainly for the youngsters to overcome language and cultural difficulties and to learn from each other. Moreover these projects give great opportunity for cooperation with the staff and the members of the organization and will be benefit for our local volunteers, because by working together with someone who comes from a foreign country, will learn the values of tolerance, equality and acceptance.

Proposed activities for EVS volunteers:

1) The volunteers will participate in the theatrical workshop/theatrical games, help in the fine-art workshop (the volunteers will work on the field of handcraft, to use different kind of materials such as clay, lime etc., they will help the children to make constractions, collages, paintings etc.), The volunteers will be able to participate in the music-kinetic workshop (they will support music-kinetic games, sound stories, singing, dancing, playing on musical instruments- in case if the volunteer can play any)

2) Handcraft with the kids,
- Playing with the kids in the free time activity,
- Helping the teachers to prepare the materials and the room for the activities, gathering them after the activity,
- Helping to avoid conflicts between the kids,
- Pay attention on immature aggressive kids,
3) Playing and take care of the kids during the outside activities,
4) The volunteers will participate in the outdoor activities like sport events, excursions, museums etc.
5) The volunteers will organize cultural events, activities with the staff and the children like theatre, prose (for celebrations, national holidays…etc)

Horário: The volunteer will collaborate 35 hours per week during 5 days a week. However, the schedule can change according to the activities in the hosting organisation. The volunteer will have 2 free days each week

The volunteers have the right to take the Greek National official holidays as free days when they match with working days.

However, when the hosting organisation has activities on volunteer’s free days (weekends or official holidays) and the volunteer is asked to work, he/she might have to choose another free day.

The volunteers will have 2 days of holidays per month for the duration of the project, to be taken in agreement between the volunteer and the team. The volunteer can join the holidays or take them by month. The volunteers must discuss with the project supervisor from the hosting organisation the dates of holidays at least one month before. The volunteer will take his/her vacation except of the national holidays that are free for everyone in Greece according to the program of the creative center and the period the volunteers are making their EVS.

The volunteers will be involved in 30 hours of EVS activities and 3 to 5 hours of language training course per week.
