Resumo: we are an association for the personal and professional development of young people, works in two areas, which are often intertwined: sustainable development and youth work.
These topics are at the heart of various activities carried out locally and internationally. In the field of youth work, our main goal is to support young people to become active members of their local communities, to identify and actively discuss their needs and interests, and to take full responsibility for their actions (we organize continuous workshop programmes at schools, international youth exchanges and trainings, we facilitated the process of youth strategy, we mentor young people in preparing their own projects,...).
In the field of sustainable development, our main purpose is to co-create a community that lives more in harmony with nature and is aware of its limitations. In addition, we want to expand the potential of the natural environment in supporting the learning processes of young and old (we are developing new tools in outdoor based learning, coordinating a community garden, organizing DIY workshops,...).
Target groups:
young people 13-17, 18-24 and 25-30.
youth workers, mentors, volunteers, teachers who are working with young people
wider community members and stakeholders (parents, local decision makers, local youth organizations and organizations for young people, farms, organizations in the field of education and local community development,...)
Perfil: Age: 18-30
As our volunteer you should have: a good grasp of English, enough to be able to hold a conversation; some experience of working with children (whether you worked formally with kids before or just come from a big family); enthusiasm for the project, as we want a volunteer who really wants to carry out the project and to be here with us!; an interest in nature and sustainability; independence and interests of your own - to make the most of this experience, it's good to know what you want to take from it. If you don't know concretely yet, having a feeling for your own identity and a desire to do for yourself is a great start.
Tarefas: You will be one of two long-term volunteers we will be hosting this year, and your main area of focus will be at our local school and partner organisation. The partner organization is a medium-sized school for pupils aged 6-15 years old, with an experienced team of teachers who have been hosting international volunteers since 2009. They have found that international experiences inspire their pupils to be more active in learning, and so as a volunteer, you'll be a key part of the process of bringing possibility home.
You will have the chance to help out in language/STEM classes, after-school sports, garden and forest pedagogical activities. You can also help with some activities at our organisation such as social media and design, the community garden, music workshops and concerts, and you can create your own activities such as organizing intercultural events for local youth and making videos/podcasts about local events
Condições: We will provide you with accommodation in an apartment with a kitchen, which you will share with one other volunteer. You will have your own room and bathroom. We will provide you with an allowance for food so that you can choose what to use in preparing your own meals. The accommodation is within walking distance to the school and our office, where you will work, but we will also provide you with a bicycle. There is a train station in Litija which connects to the 3 largest cities in Slovenia and many other locations.
