Resumo: Future World Association was established in 2016 by a group of pedagogues who are tired of conventional education in Bulgaria and would like to direct their voluntary work towards educational improvement and a positive change of attitude of both students and teachers towards the learning process.
Our main goals are:
• To foster scientific, educational and practical work in the field of formal and non-formal education and youth work;
• To reveal different educational methods and techniques to society;
• To implement non-formal educational methods in parallel with the formal ones;
• To stimulate people to try new methods of self-improvement and lifelong learning;
• To make young people more tolerant and open-minded;
• To help for the preparation and realization of projects and activities which contribute to the sustainable development of the civil society; free exchange of ideas and information, intellectual values and models of cooperation;
• To promote volunteering;
• To make people more positive;
• To avoid bullying at schools and among young people in general;
• To promote healthy lifestyle;
• To educate young people about sustainability and give them practical advice how to minimize their negative footprint on Earth.
The organization consists of ten members, eight of them have pedagogical education and all of them have experience in work with children and youth.
What brings us together is our common strive for change and interest in alternative forms of teaching and studying. We have certified specialists in suggestopaedia, Waldorf education, Montessori education, Sun pedagogy, psychology, work with kids with special educational needs. The fact that we have deep knowledge in diverse methodologies help us take the best out of them and adapt it to the environment and the target groups.
Members of our team are writing books on non-formal education. Three of our members are finishing their PhD programmes this year. They are focused on media, linguistics, emotional intelligence. Four people are assistants and lecturers at Veliko Tarnovo University. There are six more volunteers who support our work regularly.
At the present moment, the association works on two major campaigns, which it self-finances and develops absolutely voluntarily.
It’s cool to be literate – This campaign is focused on increasing the culture of children and young people, including: knowledge about history and traditions, orthoepy, orthography, enrichment of vocabulary, developing skills for expression of ideas, media literacy, literacy as a value.
Code: Zero Stamp – Planet Earth – This is an ecological campaign which consists of a few different modules focused on spreading information about the disastrous effects on the planet which people cause with some simple everyday actions or inactions and what we could do in order to decrease this negative impact on the Earth.
Both campaigns are oriented towards children and young people. That is the reason why activities, lectures, trainings take place mainly in kindergartens and schools in the region of Veliko Tarnovo. We are working in a way to turn both campaigns into national ones.
Future World Association is a founding member of Association of Youth and Volunteer Organizations in Bulgaria.
