Themes of our project
Children, Disability, media and communication/youth information are the core themes of our project. Children with disabilities aged 6-18 years old are one of the core targets of the evs project and from previous experience we know the presence of volunteers gives them another taste of the school activities. Pupils with learning difficulties need attention of the youth work, and this project gives a strong had to this initiative that we aim to bring further in the future and do our best in making them feel equal and share a common space with the other youngster whom can help and support them.
EVS volunteers will work during the week in promotion of voluntaryism in the high schools of Tirana and among the local volunteers of BBA and Local Volunteer Centre (coordinated from us). The promotion work will not only be done upon presentations but also using media as a resource and the youth information as a powerful tool to enhance the experience. Volunteers will be able to promote the values of volunteer work through the use of different social media, newspapers, tv, radio, mail lists, blogposts, facebook groups, you tube channels, photo shows, newsletter etc. Apparently as proved these means strike interest among youngsters in Albania, therefore we introduce the use of them in volunteer work in order to make it more reachable as information and as well as a service.
Exhibition Evenings, gatherings of volunteers, outdoor activities, street actions will also be settled in their agenda. Meanwhile offering these whole variety we will leave space to volunteers to position themselves in the field they like most. AND we dare and state what our young volunteers always tell us! There is no information for them on how to engage in volunteering activities. So this makes us believe and work hard to make the project a leading channel in informing youngsters of Albania about "millions of possibilities" how to get involved, about YiA program, EVS, local voluntaryism etc. Who better than the 4 EVS volunteers can do this job? We have now proven the impact that their work and presence gives in the community. Local volunteers of our NGO get interested even by only seeing the foreign volunteers giving their time, energy, ideas and creativity in a project based in their hometown. Not rarely we receive local volunteers who say: If this EVS person came from Europe to work voluntarily here, living everything behind, why can't I do it for my community as well?!
This showed to us that the mentality of young people in Tirana is starting to change thanks to the presence of EVS volunteers. And this motivates us to make the project better and work to promote the volunteer work for all youngsters, nevertheless of their capacities, knowledge, physical conditions or motivation.
Tarefas: The main activities that the EVS volunteers will carry out during the project are:
1. Supporting sustainability and continuation of the first Local Volunteer Centre of Tirana
2. Assisting and social animating for children with learning difficulties in a special school of Tirana.
3. Providing to youngsters with fewer opportunities, possibility to learn foreign languages (ex. English, French, German, Spanish) basic computer skills and space for recreational and integration activities.
4. Promoting Volunteering among youngsters in Albania, through EVS experience and YiA program, as strong tools and positive testimonials.
5. Preparing and issuing the Newsletter of the association and updating the website.
