Tarefas: Will work in the Haus Bethanien Tagesbetreuung für Menschen im Alter -Day care for people in old age- Accompanying people in their daily routine, eating, playing, reading,.. 25 hours a week plus Wednesday training course in the Ludwig Schwarz School (Changes to the operating times always possible - flexibility required)

The role of the volunteers is to bring in an added value of quality of activities and support for people with care for people in old age and they should bring in Europe and their mentality/culture nearer to those people in every activity inside the organisation. The volunteers are involved in talking to clients, companionship, accompanying clients on social and recreational activities and assisting their daily life through socialisation and promotion of intercultural games, music and activities in general, helping them with breakfast, cooking with them typical dishes from their country...

The practical arrangements (working hours, days off, holidays, meals, accommodation, local transport):
In principle, they will work about 35 hours/week 5 days a week, usually from 08:00-15:30, Monday to Friday with 0.5-1 hour lunch break, in some projects it is also planned that the volunteers will work on weekends and in the evenings; if the volunteer works on a weekend, he/she will have a compensatory weekday off. General flexibility is guaranteed if volunteers need special days off. Volunteers are also expected to be flexible if the project needs their support.
From mid of October until the end of June, volunteers will attend the Training Course for Introduction to Social Services together with other volunteers. During this course, they will learn about the principles of accompanying people with disabilities, as well as principles of medicine, therapy and lifting techniques, etc. This course will be held in German. If they do not participate in the course, they are in their place of employment.

Although the individual volunteers will be involved in different projects, they will share accommodation in the form of shared flats in a house in the middle of Gallneukirchen, Pfarrgasse 1 or at Linzerberg 45b. This is an accommodation in which other young people who are completing the Diaconal Year also live. Each volunteer has his or her own room, a bed, a cupboard, a table, seating, a common lounge, a kitchen, toilets and a shower. In the basement of the house there is a common laundry room with washing machine and drying room.

Accommodation is safe and separate from the place of volunteer work. During their free time, volunteers can come and go at any time of the day or night. In addition they receive money for food and 1-2x/day meals in the project groups. Projects and accommodations are located in the immediate vicinity, so that one only has to walk about 5-15 minutes to reach everyone. The volunteers will receive a bicycle during the time of the project. Volunteers generally attend one German courses at in Linz.
Holidays: All official Austrian national and legal holidays will be observed accordingly. Volunteers can’t consume their days just in the end of the service. It has to be taken during their stay and not at the end of their stay. It has to be communicated in time with the coordinating organisation.
