Resumo: S.A.V.E – Social Awareness and Volunteering in Europe in order to promote social awareness, tolerance and acceptance for youngsters with less opportunity by cultural diversity and non formal educational methods.

The volunteers will work with children in a School for Inclusive Education. It is a special school for children with medium mental disabilities. This centre helps them get some education and some skill in order to be autonomous and not depend for the rest of their life on social welfare or people around. This centre helps them get some knowledge that can help them get a job or work at home.

Perfil: De preferência, alguma experiência com crianças com deficiência.

Tarefas: The role of the volunteers will be that of attending all the meetings, trainings and scheduled activities, dedicate their time according to the recommended hours in assisting in the preparation, implementation and evaluation of various activities:

- Participate to the Pre-Departure Training and/or other pre-departure preparation meetings
- Participate actively to the On Arrival and Capacity Building programme Attend the Monthly, Mid Term and Final Evaluation Meetings attend all language classes, participate in the class , learn and prepare accordingly.
- prepare themselves for each meeting with the requested materials (for example: filling on time the monthly evaluation forms)
- Participate actively and contribute to the organization and implementation of the Social Awareness Information Campaign.

. Working with older people:

The volunteers can play bingo and other group games with the people hosted, can accompany them for a walk or help the staff in providing them with food. Other activities in the house can be: working together in the garden, assisting in therapy sessions.

"working with children with mental disabilities"
The volunteers will work 3 up to 4 days in School Centre for Inclusive Education with children with medium mental disabilities (like autism, Down Sindrome, hyperkinetic). The objective of this centre is to help them with integration in society, obtain some competences than can help them become autonomous in life, make it on their own, get a job, work independently, etc. The scope is to help them not be completely dependent to other people and society. The age of the children is from 7 to 20 years old. In this centre, there are about 160 children. The children are capable of self sufficiency. On one side the volunteers will assist the teachers in classes (like music, drawing, arts, handicraft, sports, etc), depending on the skills of the volunteers. On the other side they will spend time working and preparing different extra-curricular activities that will take place once per month or once every two months (Christmas Spectacle, St. Valentines Day, Mothers day, Anti-discrimination of people with mental disabilities, Social awareness campaigns, etc).

. Helping in the office:

Making copies, arranging files, sending faxes, answer phone, cleaning, etc.
Support the updating of the web platforms:
- select and edit relevant information materials, design, translate texts, etc.
- Be innovative, participative, ready to help and share ideas;
- Display a decent and common sense behaviour in relation to the youngsters and the hosting community in general

Contribute to the visibility of the project in the community, especially amongst the target group (youngsters) as well as the local actors (public administration, schools, media, etc.

Contribute to the dissemination and exploitation of the results achieved by the previous volunteers (make use of the methods and instruments left behind, make use of the EVS manuals, as well as continue and develop the initiatives launched by other volunteers).

Condições: An exact working schedule will be established together with the director of the institution, teachers and volunteers.
