Resumo: The Kindergarten 48 is a public organization for small children ages 3-6. About 120 children come to our kindergarten. There are 6 groups: for 3, 4, 5 and 6 year old children. In the English group, for example, children learn English for 5 hours every day. One teacher in this group speaks only English.
We also provide extra activities: rhythmics, dance, corrective exercises, chess, other language lessons, and religion. We employ a competent staff of teachers, cooks and administrators.

In our work we use special programs. For example, we have an international program, "Partnership for Children" (Zippy's Friend), which teaches children how to solve problems, handle difficulties, talk about feelings and establish new relationships.
The kindergarten is beautifully decorated and there is a lot of space for the children to learn and play. It is also equipped with many toys and equipment for sports. There is also a playground behind the kindergarten in the small wood.

Our aims are to take care of the children while their parents are working between 6 and 19 o'clock. During this time we prepare activities for the participating children; we teach them new things and play with them.

The kindergarten is located in Fordon - in the district of Bydgoszcz. Fordon is occupied by over 80,000 people and is located approx. 15 kilometers from the center of Bydgoszcz. Bydgoszcz is quite a big town (approx. 400.000 people) and over 650 years old. In Bydgoszcz there is good public transportation - bus, taxi, train and tram. 30 kilometers outside of Bydgoszcz lay the Tucholskie Forests: a beautiful place with unpolluted, fresh air and very good ecological conditions. The most pressing issues for the citizens of Bydgoszcz are the difficult economic situations, high unemployment rate (approx. 25%) and poverty. Now that the factories are old and unused, many workers are unemployed.

Perfil: During the recruitment process we will cooperate with our co-ordinating organization. The volunteers should be interested in working with children and should be responsible, patient, creative and active.

Volunteers should be flexible and open-mined. Experience working with children, and knowledge of games and fun activities for young children would be an asset.

Tarefas: The volunteer will work 5 days a week (from Monday to Friday) for 7 hours daily. We like to give the volunteers free time. They normally have Saturdays and Sundays free for sightseeing and taking part in cultural activities. Additionally, all national and Church holidays are free for the volunteers. They are free to spend this time however they choose.
Tasks for international volunteer:
- take care of children with the assigned group teacher
- help to improve the room aesthetics (e.g. decorating rooms, painting, etc.)
- carry out fun activities in the volunteer's native language
- help to organise celebrations for the children, their parents and the local community
- take part in, and help organize outings and walks
- organise sport activities for the children (indoor and outdoor)
- help with routine cleaning activities, meal preparation, and serving
Volunteers will learn polish method of work with children, polish songs and poems. They will experience polish culture, customs and kitchen. Volunteer will develop themselves, become more self-reliant and more confident.

Condições: Organisation is able to host 2 longterm volunteers.

Kindergarten is a very safe work environment. The safety and protection of the staff and children is our most important goal.
Volunteers will take part in the job training and Health and Safety Course. We familiarise them with the Health and Safety at Work Act for home, in the kitchen and at work. Every volunteer will have a personal mentor and they will be in touch at all times.

Additionally, in the kindergarten there will be a coordinator, who will answer all questions and help if there is any trouble.

The volunteer will work with a competent staff. He/she will not stay alone with children. We will prepare the volunteers to work in Kindergarten.
