Resumo: (teams volunterring project)

The aim and learning goals of the project are :
+ Gaining experience and learning working life skills
+ Gaining everyday life skills
+ Developing English language skills
+ Gaining cultural knowledge
+ Raising awareness about international youth work and ESC projects among
youth center visitors and locals.

Working language is English.

After arriving at Youth Center, the team will have 2-day On-arrival training. In this training, volunteers learn more about European Solidarity Corps, get to know the youth center and Inari area, Lappish way of life, and
Finnish & Sami culture. And get to know each other of course :)
Volunteers have work instructor in Vasatokka who guides volunteers during the work and introduces the work tasks. Also there is named mentor, who meets regularly with volunteers during the period, and supports with settling to the
environment and project.

Perfil: Age: 18-30

We are looking for volunteer who is...
- motivated to do all kinds of working tasks
- responsible, and represents the organization as staff member in front of local partners, kids and youngsters,
- flexible since there can be sudden changes to schedules due to weather and customer groups
- open-minded
- always finishes the given tasks
- willing to work and play with kids and youngsters
- able to follow schedules, since it is important to be on time when there is a certain timetable
- has positive energy
- has a survivor attitude towards the rural circumstances and location * :)

*Youth Center is located in the middle of nowhere, and surrounded by beautiful Lapland nature;
big lake, forest, hills, and wilderness. Nearest village is 10km away, and there is no public transportation. At
free time it's possible to cycle to village, and approximately once a week staff will give a ride to village to
shop groceries. Late August the nights get dark again after midnight sun season, and there is possibility to
see some auroras if you are lucky.

Tarefas: After On-arrival training, begins the actual volunteer work:
First, volunteers work in Youth Center Vasatokka. There will be different tasks and the Team will be
divided in smaller groups.
Tasks are:
-carpentry work
-youth center yard maintenance e.g. weeding outdoor sport fields
-decorating youth center game room and corridor e.g. painting walls and making diy decoration

Last Saturday of August (31.8.) is Finnish Nature Day, and it’s also a national `Sleep Outdoors Day`.
There is big outdoor event Forest Hotel in Urho Kekkonen National Park, and volunteers will work and help with the Forest Hotel setups. Work consists e.g. taking down the Forest Hotel after the event day
(taking down hammocks, tents, etc, and equipment maintenance). There is possibility to take part in activities on the event day, sleep the night in a hammock, and explore the beautiful National Park.

Equipment and introduction for sleeping outdoors will be provided.

On the second week volunteers help organizing outdoor adventure competition event for locals which will be arranged for third time in 7.9. There can be also other additional work tasks. Also, volunteers make social media content to make the project visible.

Horário: Working hours: Volunteers work mainly 5 days/week and have 2 days off. There will be also work during weekend and free days during week. Work days last 5-8 hours. At free time, it’s possible to rent Youth Center rental equipment for
small price. Youth Center Game room, Sport hall, and fire-huts are also available to use when they are booked for customers.

Condições: Accommodation: Volunteers will accommodate in hostel-like apartment with 3 bedrooms, shared well-equipped kitchen, common living room area, shared showers, and toilets. There will be 3-4 people per bedroom. From volunteer, it
requires patience and flexibility, as you will share apartment and room with other people during the whole project. Sauna is in different building and will be booked for certain evenings

Bedlinen and towel are provided, and there is laundry machine in youth center.

Food: Whenever there are customer groups in the youth center that have meals included, volunteers will have ready meals in center’s dining room. For those days when ready meals are not served, volunteers cook by themselves in the apartment and shop groceries from the village. Volunteers select couple of people from the team to plan a shopping list and shop groceries for the whole group. The organization provides food money. The amount of food money depends on how many days there are without ready meals.

Travel reimbursement to Vasatokka and back according to distance*
Accommodation and meals or food money
Pocket money 6 € / day
Henner insurance (international volunteers only)
2-days On-arrival training
