Resumo: Kindergarten Okasroosike is a municipality kindergarten in Võru. The curriculum is developed in accordance with the national curriculum for preschool institutions and the unique characteristics of the kindergarten. Based on the kindergarten’s curriculum, each group creates an annual activity plan. There are 5 groups for different ages of children groups. The kindergarten is based on play, fairy tales, nature conservation, creative activities, and experiential learning, providing a mentally secure growth environment for children. It upholds values of friendliness, compassion, creativity, and unity.

Every week at the kindergarten brings a unique experience. Diverse topics and events can fill the week, offering different activities with the children. Volunteers actively engage in a variety of events, spanning festivals, exhibitions, tours, themed weeks, charity initiatives, and more.

Once a week, the volunteer can work with children aged 7-17 at the local youth center. Additionally, they occasionally share customs and traditions from their country with pupils at Võru primary school.

Learning activities are structured around extended projects that explore topics relevant to the child’s immediate environment and surroundings. These projects typically involve both research and artistic endeavors, with topics ranging from polar bears to jam-making. Our emphasis lies in the process rather than solely on the outcomes. In these learning activities, volunteers collaborate with teachers and children to lead projects and contribute to the planning process by offering ideas to address children’s inquiries. It’s crucial for volunteers to actively support the entire project duration, working closely with the children until its completion. Once a project concludes, volunteers transition to a new group to embark on another project. During the interim period between projects, volunteers collaborate with the music teacher.
