Resumo: The „Kindergarten“ is an integrative kindergarten that hosts young children with handicaps of different kinds together with children without handicapped. 66 kids are visiting the kindergarten on a daily base from morning till evening of whom 12 are handicapped. 15 staff support the kids in their individual development working with methods from the range of physiotherapy, ergo- and languagetherapy. Courses in early musical education, swimming and sports are also implemented in the every day work.

The kindergarten lies in the middle of Leipzig.

Leipzig is located in the northwest of the Free State of Saxony. The city and its 500,000 inhabitants became known throughout the world in the fall of 1989 as the center of the peaceful revolutionary movement in East Germany. It is home to the second oldest university in Germany as well as serving as an important trade fair center. Around 1 million people visit Leipzig every year, enjoying the city's lively atmosphere and diverse cultural offerings.

Perfil: We would like to see the following: interest in the care and nursery teaching of pre-school children (also for aspects like washing, dressing and eating), respect and sensitivity for the children, some practical experience working with small kids, ability to act independently as well as in a team, reliability and punctuality

Tarefas: The volunteer will care for the children from 3 to 7 years for 5 days a week in a daily routine together with the other kindergarten teachers. This includes playing and eating with them, physical education, music and craftwork. They will accompany the children on trips, riding therapy and swimming lessons and in general help the children along the various steps in their development. The volunteer will be expected to speak in the English language to allow the children access to a foreign language. Together with our guest we wish to develop projects with the aim of teaching the children the unique characteristics of the volunteer's culture. The volunteer shall present aspects of his or her own country, e.g. games, music, craftwork or cooking. The volunteer will choose which projects they wish to offer to the children, supported by us.

They can also take part in public events e.g. "Tages der Begegnung" in Leipzig (Leipzig day for the disabled). In general we are looking forward to the commitment and initiative of the volunteer and to the support of their projects.

The volunteer can take part in a language course at the beginning of the stay.

Condições: The volunteer will stay in a living community with up to six other EVS-volunteers.
