Resumo: (volunteering teams project)
The hosting organization is one of the Finnish National Youth Centres supported and observed by the Ministry of Education. We are specialized in youth work and our function is to develop the methods used in the field of youth work, to act as a centre for developing the skills of the youth, and enable young people’s mobility: domestically and abroad. The centres are run under the Finnish Youth Act.
The core values of our operations are community spirit, solidarity, equality, equality, multiculturalism, internationality, healthy lifestyles and respect for the environment and life. The goals of our activities are formed on the basis of the goals set for us by the Youth Act, and our task is to support children and growth and development of young people. The activities of our youth center are based on the common vision of the youth centers youth work in a youth center environment.
Our knowledge of young people and developmental expertise supports youth participation and aids in their growth towards active citizenship. This knowledge is not only founded on years of experience working with young people, but also successful cooperation with municipalities, schools and various organizations, in addition to our special status as a partner to the Ministry of Education in the administration of government youth policy. We have strong experience in volunteering in a civic society.
Perfil: Age: 18-30
Tarefas: After the on-arrival training volunteers will be divided into two groups: one half of the volunteers works at the summer camps and the other half works in nearbly island doing restoration work.
Work at the summer camps: the volunteers plan and organize program for children’s summer camps. This work is done together with the staff. Volunteers will plan and lead different kinds of workshops and activities for the summer camps and together with the staff ensure a safe atmosphere for the campers. This means that volunteers are also expected to be responsible and reliable adults for the campers, follow safety rules and be mentally present during working days. It means for an example that you cannot use your mobile phone during working hours, you focus is on the children all time. The project aims to promote multicultural awareness and atmosphere at the camps by providing children with the opportunity to develop their friendship and interaction skills.
Work at the island: The work is mostly physical work like painting and restoration work on the island and the organization. The work consists of doing treatments of sauna surfaces and treatment of sauna decks; Painting and restoration work of the buildings on the island; Refurbishing various types of outdoor areas; Use of personal protective equipment and taking into account occupational safety.
Horário: The volunteer will work 5 days a week, approximately 35 weekly hours. Work is from Monday to Friday, weekends are free. Working hours are usually from 9-16 including lunch time, but work schedule can vary depending on events that we are taking part in.
