Resumo: The organization has a long tradition of voluntary work and being active in the neighbourhood, which is very important and permanently refined. As an organisation they run kindergartens, day-care centres, youth clubs and further social community work. Since 2005 Nachbarschaftsheim has been organising full-day-care centres at ten primary schools in Berlins southwest whereof five of those day-care centres in different schools participate in the ESC program. ESC-volunteers will mainly support the open and non-formal education activities in school as well as the full-day care activities in the afternoon. Together with the social workers and the children, cultural education, leisure and sports activities are developed for the young people. The primary schools all have a different focus in their daily work.
Perfil: Age: 18-30
Tarefas: The volunteers assisting a team of teachers and educators in a fixed class. The day-care centre is integrated in the school, so the work usually starts after the end of the class.
The activities of the volunteers can include:
Teaching assistance and homework assistance, accompanying the children in their learning process, motivating children with different learning material
Assisting the team at lunch time, preparing the tables, taking care of the children
Playing board games, preparing creative offers
Joining the open educational approach, taking part in activities in theme rooms
Playing outside with the children: e.g. basketball, football, jumping rope…
Organising holiday activities, taking part in trips and excursions
Possibility for realising own ideas of projects
