Resumo: The aim of the project is to promote volunteering in the city of Debrecen. We have many projects that are dealing with volunteer activities in different social institutions.
Is 1-year long, starting September 1, 2012 endig September 1, 2013
Perfil: We are looking for volunteers who are interested in the Hungarian culture and language or who are open to a world so unique. We are looking for young people who would fit in easily to our team work and have good communication skills and are interested in other cultures. Being open and flexible are important and also to be able to handle a certain level of frustration. We are looking for reliable, program-solving and creative people who could help us in our work and color our activities with his/her practices and cultural heritage. our most important values are openness and trust in eachother. Basic IT skills would be helpful. We expect the volunteers to talk openly about any problems and dissatisfaction during the EVS activity.
The decision of an application and the number of volunteers will be considered by the co-workers of the Association and with the advice of our external partners. The decision will be based on the staff available to mentor the volunteer and the current priorities of our activities. The Association does not disciminate on the basis of race, color, national and ethnic origin, religion and gender. Regarding the Sending Organizations we are looking for partners from different areas regarding work. As mentioned, we are open to new areas and ee believe that a volunteer coming from a different environment could enrich our work with his/her on experiences or strenghten an existing area.
Tarefas: Provisional weekly agenda:
40% social interaction: meeting with the volunteers of the Association and working together with them. The Association has close contacts with social institution where are volunteers go to play with children or to do some pots together.
25% choosing a field of interest and supporting the work of the program coordinator
15% presenting and introducing own culture within the activities of the Association
10% office volunteer tasks in general
10% working out PR material: help the PR-persons work by new ideas for posters and by writing something on the website of the Association or into the monthly student magazine
Working hours are 40 hours/ week. If an event of the Association is at the weekends than the volunteer may have to work on weekends. There is also a possibility to travel in the region as the Association has 3 regional coordinators responsible for eight counties in Hungary.
Horário: An example day would look like this: 10am-12am - preparing for the afternoon activities, helping in the office and making regular duties (agreed upon arrival), 12am-1pm - lunch break, 1pm-3pm -further tasks (depending on the project field chosen of the volunteer), 3pm-6pm - volunteer work outside the Office and Community Space.
Condições: We have the possibility to host people for example in a wheel chair or with slighter disabilities. Contact us to discuss this in advance; we will do everything, as much as we can. Our team relies on mutual respect and there are no tasks that would be impossible. As we work closely with people with health problems and disabilities we have experience in this field. We also have professional supporters who would be able to write a plan of accommodating youth with disabilities and health problems. Regarding youth with other fewer opportunities: we believe that our greatest tool is to be open and to learn. We are welcoming anyone and if there are special needs, please don't hesitate to contact us and discuss.
To ensure a safe time and living for the volunteer, all of them receive a mentor who is available anytime the volunteer needs him/her. Our mentors and co-workers are professionals, some of us are teachers. We believe that we could be a parent for the volunteer. In any case the volunteer needs to consult with anyone other than the mentor, the president of the Association and the person responsible for the EVS program will be there and ready to solve any types of problems. The person in charge for the EVS program will be the supervisor and will be there at the first steps: introducing the team, showing around in the city, etc. As the hosting organization we are responsible for insurance of the volunteer, finding and financing a language class, and the paying of food- and pocket money according to the Youth in Action Guideline. In case of any medical problem, the mentor will be in close contact with the volunteer and will follow the volunteer if any medical treatment is needed. A safe living will be guaranteed in a rented apartment in the city centre, in a safe neighborhood, near public transportation. We can guarantee that the volunteer will always have supervision and personal meetings with the management of the Association.
The risk prevention, we believe, starts earlier. The communication between the host and the sending organization is essential, so the volunteer knows exactly what kind of organization the Centre Youth Association is and what kind of expectations we have. The inclusion of the volunteer will be 100%. Participation in events and meetings makes the volunteer a part of the team that is essential. Also we give a cell phone (free calls between co-workers and mentor) and an e-mail address that makes the communication and the availability constant.
Among our volunteers there are several youngsters who are 16 or 17 years old, therefore we have experience in a professional supervision. While organizing trainings and camps for under-aged we always tell them the rules in advance. We have many professionals who are teachers and supporters of the youth. We can guarantee appropriate supervision, protection and safety as well.
Formação: Yhe work at the Centre Youth Association is based mainly on taking an own initiative and to come up with ideas that can be useful in the programs of the Association. By living abroad the volunteer will have the opportunity to learn the limits of his/her own personality and to be an 'ambassador' of the country of origin. This makes the volunteer an active citizen that establishes mutual understanding and respect among different nations. While working in the office the volunteer can also experience and practice another language and therefore can improve the communication skills. While meeting other people he/she can learn how to deal with different kinds of situations. In addition, going home, knowing that several friends and life-long memories and experiences are behind a person, is priceless. We believe that through the day-to-day contact and work both the volunteer and the members of the Center Youth Association as well, are going through a development of social and life competences. We also offer the opportunity of traveling through Hungary with the members of the organization and to see not just the bigger cities but the countryside and the real cultural heritage of Hungary.
