Resumo: Every day, the hosting organization works beside families to build, renovate or repair their home in 70 countries around the world. Driven by the vision that everyone needs a decent place to live, Habitat has served more than 39 million people since it began in 1976.
Simple homes save lives. Families are healthier, children do better in school and parents have a chance to earn a stable income. The organization advocates to improve access to affordable shelter and support funding models that enable families with limited resources make vital improvements to their homes.

Since 1993 across Ireland the organization has engaged thousands of volunteers in its mission. The organization brings together people from across the community to serve vulnerable people and raises fund to support long-term partner programmes in some of the world's poorest communities. Through ReStore, the organization directly tackles poverty in Ireland, helping local families access low-cost materials to improve their homes, providing training and support for people of all ages and backgrounds and diverts tons of material from landfill.
Mobilising volunteers, as effective advocates around the critical need for housing in breaking the cycle of poverty, is a strategic priority. The organization seeks to deepen participation and understanding of the Sustainable Development Goals through development education and awareness raising.
ESC volunteers will find an open, welcoming and diverse operation which provides a broad range of roles.

Perfil: Age: 18-30
We are looking for volunteers with good level of English, and keen to work as part of a team. Our volunteers must be flexible, willing to learn as well as being good at using their initiative. Volunteers must enjoy working with people of all ages, gender, backgrounds and abilities.

Tarefas: Volunteers will be involved in a range of activities in the organization depending on the skills and interest of the volunteer and specific needs of the organisation during the placement. Activities include retail operations such as customer service, supporting with the collecting of donations, presentation and displaying of stock, sorting and pricing of donations and admin support.
There is an opportunity to be involved in helping with training and support for volunteers with a learning disability, brain injury and those with mental health challenges. Volunteers will also support organization’s House to Home programme which includes painting and decorating. You should note that the work in ReStore and on House to Home is hands-on and can be physically demanding.
There may also be an opportunity to engage in the organization's broader work during the placement, this could include activities such as assisting with the school's work or helping raise awareness

Condições: The volunteers will live in shared accommodation. Each volunteer will have their own bedroom, and cooking, living and bathroom facilities will be shared.
Volunteers will purchase food and cook own meals - expenses will cover food costs. Volunteers will use public transport and expenses will cover bus/train journeys to the placement. If required, exact details will be confirmed closer to the time.
