1.Social inclusion
2.Rural active citizenship
3.Cultural diversity & recreation
4.Youth rural antrepreneurship
Social inclusion
The volunteer can work with the following social categories: elderly citizens institutionalized in special centres (some of them don’t have families), elderly citizens that are not institutionalzied ( senior citizens club with fixed hours where they can come and socialize), children coming from disorganized families that come in specialized centers for a limited period of time, children with fewer opportunities, children with minor mental disabilities, children with severe mental disabilities, persons with physical disabilities (they are members in a NGO specialized for people with disabilities).
The volunteer that wants to work in this direction must like to work with children and/or senior citizens and be willing to commute with the public transportation (the distance can reach up to 50 km for one trip).
Rural active citizenship
In the hosting communities the volunteers will develop and implement extra- curricular activities for the children and pupils from the kindergarten, primary school, general school, High School and Pupils Club. Some of these activities can be:
-Language workshops (English, Spanish, Italian, French, German, etc);
-Presentations on: equal rights, democracy, European institutions, etc;
-Workshops on photography; Another important direction is that of empowering the Students Council. In all the schools such Councils exist. The main challenge of the volunteer will to empower the Student Council and it’s members. The volunteer that wishes to work in this direction must have at least basic knowledge about democracy, human rights, children rights, to know what is an active citizen, and/or want to work with the children from the kindergarten, primary, general or High School.
Cultural diversity & recreation
The volunteer can work in the hosting community, with children and pupils in the following locations: kindergarten, primary, gymnasium and /or High School based on what the hosting community has. Examples of activities are: sports and dances, drama (theatre plays), green activities (cleaning areas, planting trees, etc), cultural activities (presentations of custom from own countries, intercultural events, traditional dances, culinary events, etc), camps, outdoor activities, raise youngsters cultural awareness, tradition and customs diversity, celebration of international days (Europe Day, International Volunteers Day, Tolerance Day, International Thank You Day, Rroma Day, etc). The volunteer that wishes to work in this direction must have basic knowledge of his/her own culture and wish to share it with others, have basic skills as animator, basic skills as a coordinator and or willing to learn one or more of the above skills.
Youth rural entrepreneurship
In the rural environment of Romania, the concept of entrepreneurship is limited only to the idea of purchasing products from big cities and selling them with a profit in their own communities. The volunteer that wishes to work in this direction should have some basic knowledge about entrepreneurship from their home country and be willing to teach others about it. He must also wish to learn about funding opportunities from Romania.
Condições: In most communities volunteers have a rented place that meets decent living standards. Other volunteers have the opportunity to experience the full Romanian rural experience by living with local families. Families in rural areas are very hospitable and for sure they will treat you as a family member. All volunteers will have their own private room with access to a kitchen, bathroom. In some cases the volunteers will have to share a room together with a roommate. However, each volunteer will still have their own bed. To keep this document light and easy to read we have included only a part of the info.
Accommodation
During the two weeks, all volunteers are to be accommodated at “Nature INN” , a guest house– a beautiful rural location, next to the mountains. The volunteers will share a room (2 persons/ room) with their own bed, bathroom, kitchen, living, dining hall and a wonderful natural surrounding.
After two weeks, the volunteers will be distributed in pairs within the 18 different rural and small urban communities. The volunteers will live either with host families or share a living location together. The living location will meet decent living standards (private room, free access to kitchen and bathroom, current cold water with the possibility of providing hot water at least one hour/day, functioning heating system, clean and secure location).
ARDR in cooperation with each hosting community will make all efforts to find the best accommodation location for the volunteers. All accommodation and utility costs (water, gas, electricity) shall be covered by the hosting organization.
All accommodation costs (including utilities) are to be covered 100% by the coordinating organization
Food will be provided in the first two weeks by the staff of the guest house. The volunteers will help with the preparation of the meals, serving and cleaning.
For the next 8 ½ months buying and preparing the food is to be the sole responsibility of the volunteers. For preparing the food the volunteers will have free access to an equipped kitchen.
In the case of volunteers staying in host families a solution will be to serve meals with the family.
The hosting organization will provide each volunteer with a monthly food allowance from which they shall cover the alimentation costs. The allowance is enough for insuring a very good living standard (being much higher than the amount and average citizen from the region spends for food). However the allowance will not be enough for ensuring every day eating in a restaurant or bistro.
The local transportation costs of the volunteers necessary for the activities implementation will be covered 100% by the association from the project budget.
The international transport of the volunteer from his/her home to the site of the project shall be covered 100% - two ways (Economy flight tickets and/or 2nd class train tickets).
The personal transport of the volunteers (local, national or international) will be not in the responsibility of the association.
Due to the importance of communication with the people from the hosting communities (most of them can not speak any foreign languages) will be of crucial importance for the volunteers to learn the Romanian Language at a good speaking level.
The volunteers will have the responsibility to attend all language courses according to the schedule as well as to make every effort in studying and learning the language.
The Coordinating Organizations will arrange for Romanian Language Courses on weekly basis for as much time as the volunteer will need. The Romanian language lessons shall be provided by experienced language teachers. The content and structure of the language courses will be projected together with the volunteers, taking into consideration their learning abilities and needs.
The language courses will be provided free of charge for the entire period of the EVS project.
The costs of the language training is to be covered by the organization.
Each volunteer is entitled to receive a 60 Euro monthly allowance – pocket money, which they can spent as they choose/want.
