Resumo: (SEABIRD CONSERVATION)
To take an active role in the Seabird Conservation team in the various conservation tasks within the organization , oriented at seabird conservation and monitoring at various Natura 2000 sites, on land and at sea. Please note that a large component of the Seabird Conservation Assistant’s work is fieldwork-based. As such, evening and weekend work is to be expected.
Perfil: Age: 18-30
Tarefas: To assist our Seabird Conservation team in research, conservation, and public awareness work at various seabird colony sites and work based at the office:
– Assisting on seabird colony monitoring: ringing (if with a license or trainee), taking morphological measurements, nest monitoring, mist netting, call registrations at night, colony and nest searching
– Sea surveys of seabird colonies by boat and kayak even at night
– Assisting on specific outreach and questionnaires with fishermen and boat operators/users.
– Predator management (biosecurity and rat control)
– Public awareness activities about seabird conservation: events, talks, public outreach in colony sites to increase awareness among site users
– Public outreach to increase awareness among project site users, boat users and fishers
– Inputting, processing and analysing collected data (Excel, ArcGIS, R)
– Assisting in the preparation of reports
– Assisting in the update of media contents in website, newsletter blog, Facebook and others
– Assisting in the organisation of stakeholder meetings, events and workshops.
