Resumo: (Volunteering team project)
The hosting organization is a National Youth Centre supported and observed by the Ministry of Education. We are specialised in youth work and our function is todevelop the methods used in the field of youth work. We work under the Finnish law
covering youth work and by the Ministry of Education.
Our goal is to offer youngsters the possibilities of learning in multicultural environment and finding their own strengths and abilities through international activity.
Our work consists of international camps and programs, education, practical training and voluntary work for young people, information and guidance about international programmes, projects and coordination of voluntering projects
Perfil: Age: 18-30
our target group is youngsters with fewer opportunities (georgaphical or ecomonical obstacles, health issues, minority groups etc). During the activity, volunteer will have support people with them who are going to provide personal support, help with everyday tasks, conflict management and so on.
Volunteers should be prepared for:
- outdoor work
- changes
- mosquitos
- adventures
- new experiences
Tarefas: The work is very concrete and includes mostly working outdoors:
- collect branches from forest areas for materials
- cut branches to prepare the elfs
- build branch elves
- clean the routes in the forest before the snow comes
- prepare lanterns and lights
- painting work and building materials
During the project, volunteers will learn how to work in international team and to collaborate with different people
Horário: Working hours :
The volunteer will work 5 or 6 days a week, approximately 35 hours. The working hours are usually from 9-16 including lunch break, but work times can vary depending on events that we are taking part in
Free time:
In your free time, you can do many different activities in town and surrounding areas:
- visit sportshall or swimming hall
- visit second hand shops
- visit museums
- visit nature trails or National parks
- pick berries and mushrooms
- go biking or canoeing
Condições: Accommodation is organised in Youth Centre in beautiful summer house by the sea. It is a simple house with no modern comforts: there are not indoor toilets, no indoor shower or running water in the house. Water is available from the well outside and there is an outdoor shower and sauna tent. House is heated with the help of the fireplace and electric radiators. Therefore, it requires patience and flexibility, as volunteers must adapt to a modest living environment. On the other hand, the Villa has a beautiful environment and offers participants a unique chance to try out traditional Finnish summer cottage lifestyle.
Meals:
During orientation day and on-arrival training volunteers will get breakfast, lunch, dinner and evening snack from our
kitchen. After that, lunch is provided during working days and volunteers get food money to prepare the other meals
themselves.
