Resumo: (Sustainable intercultural activities at Youth Centre)
The hosting organization is one of the Finnish National Youth Centres supported and observed by the Ministry of Education. We are specialized in youth work and our function is to develop the methods used in the field of youth work, to act as a centre for developing the skills of the youth, and enable young people’s mobility: domestically and abroad. The centres are run under the Finnish Youth Act.
The core values of our operations are community spirit, solidarity, equality, equality, multiculturalism, internationality, healthy lifestyles and respect for the environment and life. The goals of our activities are formed on the basis of the goals set for us by the Youth Act, and our task is to support children and growth and development of young people. The activities of our youth center are based on the common vision of the youth centers youth work in a youth center environment.
Perfil: Age: 18-30
Tarefas: The volunteer works in International department. The role of the volunteer is to be a part of the everyday life of the centre and international deparment and help to bring sustainable and environmentally friendly thinking and
procedures into practice.
- Help to develop activities to youth groups from sustainable
- development goals point of view (environmental & human rights education)
- promotion of international activities, through school visits, events & social media
- help to plan and lead International Club activities for young people
- prepare materials for programmes, help to create manuals and instructions
- help to plan, lead, and evaluate programmes for visiting groups in sustainable ways
In International Department the volunteer helps to arrange international projects with local and regional youth groups and youth workers. We organise youth exchanges, seminars, and training courses. We go around to schools, youth houses and events to promote international activities, so one task is to prepare materials and presentations for these events. Work at the international department includes also office work. Work can also sometimes include helping out with other Youth Centre activities, such as nature school groups or service side.
